this is hands down the best incubus album to date, sorry folks but its all downhill from here. if you have just got into incubus this album might come as a shock to you with its heavy guitars, funky stlye and jazz like interludes. many fans of 'a crow left of the murder' may not like this, incubus' stle has got liter and more mainstream as time has gone on but s.c.i.e.c.e is them at thier most creative.
Highlight tracks, all of them! their all good! but my top three are:

'New skin' heavy and great to listen to

'deep inside' funky and smooth with a few suprises

'magic medacine' for its sheer wierdness!

Seemingly taking inspiration from Aphex Twin's Richard D. James Album released a year before, Homogenic sees Björk completely shed the quaint image she gained through her debut and embrace the unknown, the spacey and the just plain weird. I've already mentioned my love for the amateurish side of Björk, but the glitchy oddness of this album has a metallic sheen to it that very few records have managed, even ten years after its original release. Beats stutter cautiously alongside menacing strings; the production on this album flawlessly allowing the natural weirdness of Björk to roam free. When I first stumbled across this album, back when I was about 10, I took it back to the shops a week later. I had heard 'Sabotage' and thought I'd try it, but it sounded like a mess.

About two years later, after slowly purchasing other Beastie Boys releases and beginning to appreciate different syles of music as a whole, I picked it up again. I began to get it a little bit more with each listen, until it became arguably my favorite album of all time up to this present day.

I can't understand why people listen to this! Is it cool? Does it make you feel like a tough guy? truth is my gangsta wannabes, your not gangstaz or thugs, and neither was Tupac. He preached violence and murder so that people became afraid, which is basically being a coward.

As a long-time Korn fan (and I've got the balding head to prove it, lol) I have gone through all the changes in the bands history and while they've had their good and bad moments, I've enjoyed most of the stuff they have produced and, IMO, this album deserves to be put up there with their best. I started to worry they were losing their edge with 'Take a Look in the Mirror' and 'See You On the Other Side', but this album has restored my faith in a big way. Experimental, and much the better for it, the sound is new, but still definitely Korn.

This is a hip-hop masterpeice by Talib Kweli. He is a master of his craft and has produced a slick and intelligent album. My personal favourite tracks are Love Language & Good Mourning but almost every track is a joy to listen to.

If you enjoy genuine hip-hop, get this album. If you are new to hip-hop, get this album. If you enjoy music in all its beautiful forms, get this album.

Pianoworks

I can see where 'ajking22' is coming from but I'm not surprised with the disappointment after listening to 'real' classical pianists like Satie. In this respect Craig Armstrong is severely lacking but the music on this album needs to be taken in context. Being a writer of scores and a contributing artist with others like Massive Attack it should be noted that his music is usually part of a bigger picture and as such will tend to be a bit minimalistic. Heatmiser and Weather Storm are prime examples where the basslines, synths and strings have been stripped away to leave two beautifuly simplistic pieces of music.

I'm not going to claim I was a massive Dilla fan before he died. I knew that he had connections with A Tribe Called Quest and Common, but that's about it -- and given the nature of music fans to name any deceased artist as a "tortured genius", albums like this should be approached with a clear mind. With Donuts though, the hype is well deserved.

What may initially sound jarring gains cohesiveness with further listens, creating a stream-of-consciousness style that continues through all 31 tracks. Each individual Donut offers something different as Dilla effortlessly twists old soul samples, combining them with some of the best beats in hip hop.
