It's not often that British hip-hop is on the same level as American hip-hop. Britain suffers often from a good deal of its scene being made of copycats and followers, rappers who will simply imitate the gangsta style in an utterly unconvincing British way. It seems the last couple of Stereo MC's albums have sometimes been unfairly judged by some because of that long wait for the follow up to 'Connected'. Both 'Deep Down & Dirty' and especially 'Paradise' seemed to show a refreshed band once again in love with creativity (something which possibly no-one else who started at the same time as them could lay claim to these days) but here they really do show they are as relevant as ever with such a modern sounding album full of tracks that could be as big as all those one's you'll remember from the 90's.
The beats are fresh ('Gringo' wipes the floor with anything the Chemical Brothers have tried in the past 7 years), Rob's voice is sounding more soulful with every album (the mystery track on disc 1 especially) ... Read More:

With the exception of the footage of the Democratic Convention protest, this DVD tends to focus less on political extras and more on the music. I suppose this would make sense, with the band broken up it would be difficult to arrange documentaries and interviews of the type found in Battle of Mexico City.

A memo should go out to all bands and music DVD producers that says at minimum: "1) Music DVD's should be produced to the highest standards. 2) The musical performances within should represent the talent that made the studio recorded CDs sell. 3) Theatrics are very cool too, as long as you can pull them off without deterioration in the quality of the music."

Hot US RnB diva follows up 2004's 'Goodies' with this sophomore effort. Whilst not truly presenting any great evolutionin her style, the harsh mechanised electro beats and synthesizer melodies here show that she is still at home with a more cutting-edge sound than many of her contemporaries. Lyrically she continues to be at her best spitting vitriol in thebattle of the sexes. Includes the single 'Like A Boy'.

Best ever album!

I originally ignored this album due to my slight prejudice against mainstream acts such as the streets. Since being subjected to it in my mate's car i have come around to recognise Kano one of the better UK rappers out there. His flow and the number of times he switches it up is sick. The beats are good too. He is easily up there with the UK's finest Jehst, Life, Cy Philly, Klashnekoff, Kyza, Chester P, Scor-zay-zee, Cappo et al. And thats one of the good things about him, he appeals to fans of seriously good rappers such as those i have just mentioned, and also talentless wastemen like lethal bizzle (a complete joke!).
