Certainly some good strong tunes on this mix, but hesitate to recommend it since it, for me, is over-run by the overlaid vocals. Shame, and a bit of a waste.

This will grow very much on you. I have all 2Pac's albums and listen to this one the most, along with 'All eyez on me'. He is especially angry on some of the tracks in a raw and gripping manner, and some songs will touch your emotions a great deal too when you become familiar with them. This is a very interesting chapter of 2pac's prolific creations, notwithstanding it being a posthumous album. Very well produced. Definitely buy this album if you like rap/2Pac.

Considering the how good some of the music was in the 1 Giant Leap TV programmes that this album accompanies, it is a big let down and a missed opportunity. There is very little evidence of the great cultural crossover music that was initially promised.
Many of the sounds that made the TV series so engaging are either absent or watered down to the point of blandness. What happened the young Chinese kids rapping in Mandarin in Tiananmen Square or the Bedouin guitarists?
All the producers have succeeded in doing here is denuding the original music of most of it's vitality and re-packaging it as ersatz world pop destined to spend more time on the coffee table than the iPod.
Don't bother with the CD album, buy the DVD of the TV series ... Read More:

Let's face it: the music in the film is brilliant, but this isn't the same music. Some idiot has has messed around with it and made it into some hip-hop/rapping rubbish. It's lost almost all what made it so good in the film. Consequently there's a lot of upset people out there who have found that the music on the audio CD bears little resemblance to the music in the film. Far better to make your own recording from the DVD; the two excellent songs are "Rain on me" and "He still loves me."

Had I not heard Gotan Project before this I suspect I would have been a good deal more impressed. Unfortunately I had and was seduced by many references to and comparisons with Gotan and then really, really disappointed. If you want tango-electronica, go for Gotan, you won't need to bother with this.

D12's first joint , Devils Night , was possibly the best Eminem album ever released ( and possibly the eminem show) . The 5 other Detriot crew members really hold their own and make the cd a very enjoyable experiance . With their dark lyrics and catchy beats , Devils Night is a stroke of genius . Unfortuneately D12 world just does not compare .As soon as i heard the first single 'my band' i decided to buy the cd .This was much like purple pills from devils night and so i had high expectations , unfortuneately they fell short . D12 have TOTALLY altered their style and songs like B**** , leave dat boy alone , u r the one and i'll be damned ruin the album totally , i couldn't believe what i was listening to ! Make no mistake. If you like Portishead, you HAVE to get this DVD. Out of maybe 30 music DVDs I own, this stands in my Top5 for sure. Excellent video/audio quality, excellent performance, Beth's singing is greater than ever, the orchestra is a plus, and all these mini movies/videoclips at the extras are also great. The playlist is heavily focused in the "Portishead" album (which is a plus for me).

If you like Portishead, get this Dvd and then you will love them! That's what happened to me anyway..

The title track was the hit and was so over-played that it might seem tiring. But the rest of the album is one of those rare animals, a mellow dance album that one can play all the way through without a single annoying track that makes you want to fast forward. Some reviewers seem to complain that there are no other 'hits' on the CD, but in a sense that's because the standard of each track is so equal that none is needed. Don't search for any single moment of brilliance - just play the whole thing as the perfect backdrop to whatever you're doing - seen in that way there are few better albums.
