I have been a huge fan of Seal since the beginning- in fact his first album is very possibly my favourite album of all time. However, listening to System at first, was a real disappointment and I was gutted to think that he had lost his song writing and musical integrity. But, and this is a huge "but", I've gone back to it recently and after a few more listens the melodies and hooks from every single track started to emerge out from under the dance beat and they have well and truly lodged themselves in my brain. I now love the album and I'm so glad that I gave it a second chance.

Every Transitions gets better and more (for the want of a better expression - 2am'ee!)....real stomping dancefloor stuff from Digweed....nothing boring or dull or monotonous....this Set at first listen blew me away (which is very tough to do) and then the more listens the more you appreciate what a true talent this DJ is amongst fallen "legends" and others who havent stuck to their roots of style of the music they played years ago...understanding that trends & technology have played their part, but Digweed seems to be the only DJ around today that has stayed true to his beliefs that good proggy dance music is still around and just as amazing as it has ever been.

I'm not against pop/classical albums and artists per se, because I quite like to hear some of the world's greatest tunes given a good roll-over, but Vanessa Mae's contributions to the genre have always seemed far too forced and mechanical.

She is undeniably a gifted and technically brilliant violinist, and she is shown at her best when letting rip on Bach's Toccata, I'm A-Doun, Storm and Devil's Trill. However, Vivaldi's Four Seasons is such an overworked piece and the two movements included here are coarse and lacking in any musical feeling, certainly nowhere near the league of Kennedy for ostentation or Vengerov for warmth. And I'm sorry but her own compositions (Destiny, Aurora, Solace) are so bland they could be TV test card music.

I agree with the reviewer below in that some of HK's recent releases have been slightly dodgy and appear to be cashing in on the rise in popularity of funky house music. Die hard fans have been complaining for months about the acquisition of the brand from ailing and tyrannical parent MoS, but it seems that the producers of this album have been given a more free reign to take HK back to its roots.
I'm glad CD1 wasn't reprasentative of the whole album, with lots of fairly commercial "heard it all before" tracks, only saved by decent mixing, however CD2 and 3 are subliminal. Never have Hed Kandi been this funky, the only comparison I can think of is HK: The Mix 50, another brilliant compilation. Tracks from Dervish, Bel Amour, Doc Da Funk, Stonebridge & Funky ... New Order is a rather mysterious band in many ways. It has pre-history and continuing influence by groups such as Kraftwerk, Eno and the Velvet Underground, and various other experimental electronic-based European groups. It also has a strong shadow cast over it from Joy Division, an ironic name for a group whose leader (also the founder of New Order) Ian Curtis committed suicide.
