Wow! This guy is almost as good as Hendrix - and he's almost as good as Stevie Ray - and he does covers of some pretty good songs just as well as quite a few great players I've heard over the last 40 years - but....he doesn't bring anything new to the table. So what's the point?

I love Christmas music, often pulling it out to listen to mid-year. And you'll never catch me listening to anything but Christmas music from Thanksgiving to Christmas. That's why I'm a little ashamed to admit to only just now getting this classic collection.

What I've been missing all these years is a truly wonderful CD. Bing has a rich, strong voice that is pleasing to listen to. The arrangements feel dated, but that's part of the charm. It feels like an old friend from the very first listen.

My only real complaint (and a minor one at that) is the pacing of the album. The first six tracks are all slower numbers. They do include a great version of "Silent Night," and Bing's classic recording of "White Christmas," so I ... Read More:

This is brilliant ! See What A Morning , Speak O Lord , Oh Church Arise , Beneath The Cross of Jesus , The Power Of The Cross and In Christ Alone and Accross The Land are meaningful & inspiring modern hymns . The truths that they express about the timeless love of God & how Christians must let that be reflected in their lives by following Christ are just amazing! The tunes are very good & they are sung to perfection by Mrs Getty . This music has been a great source of inspiration to me when one feels that ones faith is under pressure as it reminds me that we can reach out to a God who loves us so much that he sacrificed his son to redeem sinners . This is the second CD of home recordings Rivers Cuomo has released and it is a fantastic album. There are 19 tracks on here with a very comprehensive booklet going in to each one in a lot of detail.

If you like Weezer - get this. There are some great tracks on here, 'My brain is working overtime' is exceptional and is very polished. Others are slightly more raw - but hey this is an album of home recordings so you can't expect an over produced CD. I wouldn't have it any other way - it is great to hear the raw sound and emotion of one of the greatest artists of our time.

Home Alone

I loved Home Alone when I was a child - it was my favourite Xmas movie. This soundtrack takes you right back.

John Williams does Xmas music SO well (he even got an Oscar nomination for this score). His carols are great and so are his tender, snow falling cues. The busy, running through the airport cues are goof fun as well. The Xmas songs used in the film are here too.

This is the kind of CD to have on at Christmas because, for me, it encapulates the spirit of the season, as does the film.
