Vladimir Ashkenazy must rank as one of the greatest pianists of the modern era. His blend of flawless technique and sensitive interpretation marks him out as being uniquely placed to deliver as near to definitive performances as it is possible to get. This set of piano concerti was my introduction to his work, and I remain as impressed now as I was when I first heard them. He is ably supported by a rich and warm sound from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by the incomparable Sir Georg Solti. this album is just amazing, although some of the songs are better in german their all still brilliant. The lyrics written by Bill are beautiful. Their a very talented band, I recommend this album definately. <3TH

1969's "More" (the soundtrack accompanying the film of the same name), meanwhile offers the heaviest Pink Floyd recordings ever : near to hard rock-metal than anything else they ever did : in addition this album offers re-recordings of the original soundtrack rearranged for record release - as the versions heard in the film are often substantially different and the film itself features two songs not released anywhere else. It's an odd ride, of many different styles and lacking a singular voice, but worth a listen.

It's cheesy, and not in a good way. Brandon's unique vocal sound seems to be becoming more and more pronounced over time and it can begin to drag on the casual listener. The artwork is cheesy too as is the spoken word parts to the song.

It seems almost as if the Killers only released this song almost as a tradition to see if they could follow up the success of last year's fun A Great Big Sled.

It's not all bad though, while the verses may come across as lacklustre, the chorus is pretty damn good and suitably epic in that unique Killers style. The greatest white singer in the history of rock and roll (in my humble opinion)still cutting the mustard. On the back of 2 great blues orientated albums comes his tribute to guitar heroes. His voice is as good as ever (he'll be 70 next year!) and he attacks these songs with all the fire of a 20-30 year old.The DVD is a real bonus with Dion talking us through each track. I have yet to see him in concert, but should I get the chance I will. Probably one of the greatest singers (now) of our time.

Its a pity most of the old guard are reaching the age where they will no longer be able to continue the rich vein of form they had with bands and as solo artists in their youth leaving me with the question who will take their place?

But lets enjoy and savour albums of now rather than then as Bob Catley despite being 60 shows his vocals have stood the test of times well without losing its richly soulful feel which is evident on tracks like "Dreamers Unite" which sounds as if it was coming from the end credits off a fantasy film which carries on in a rich vein of form on the riff beauty and ever changing emotions of Bob Catley's voice on "We Are Immortal" and "End of the world".
