This compilation could be the right investment for the buyer who wants only one CD by this band. Featuring their two best known tracks "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit" the CD is likely to satisfy the casual buyer.
Containing songs from all their 6 studio albums + a couple of live recordings it gives a pretty good general view of the band's recording career.
It will always be a matter of taste and a subject to discussion which specific tracks ought represent the various albums on a compilation CD.
I think most tracks are well chosen even though I miss great tracks like "Come Up the Years" (Takes Off), "My Best Friend" (Surrealistic Pillow), "Martha" (Baxter's) and "The Good Shepherd" (Volunteers) ... Read More:

Once again the legacy of Hank Williams senior is in good hands. Hank III is back with an amazing new album. Backed with the truly legendary Johnny Hilland on guitar producing the most amazing Chicken Pickin guitar he is known for. Never better displayed than in the anthem P.F.F.
First track Grand Ole Opry sums the thinking of Hank, being his disdain for the whole country industry as it stands today. Reinstate Hank Williams people!
The flavours of the proceeding tracks carry on with the thinking of this man, anti-establishment, drug taking, generally getting messed up for the sake of it. But it all is in good fun really, apart from the sombre track Candidate For Suicide, which I personally hope he doesn't believe.

Back in the summer of 2005, when I was about to start my first year at uni, former Something Corporate singer/pianist Andrew McMahon, released the first album from his Jack's Mannequin side project; `Everything in Transit', 45 minutes of piano based pop/rock perfection that's quite possibly the album I listed to the most during my 3 years. So it seems somewhat appropriate that as I finish and move on to the next stage in my life, (whatever that may be) that his second release emerges. Or at least it should have, as several unexplained delays pushed its eventual release from April to the end of September.
Of course, it's not been as easy road for McMahon, as any fan knows he spent the months after the completion of Everything in Transit, ... Read More:

Electric guitar playing does not come any better than this. The seemingly effortless musical mastery of these two legendary players is everything I expected and more when I bought the orginial vinyl versions of these recordings. The only mystery to me is why did they not record together more often? Separately they made marvellous recordings, but together they inspired each other to new heights, as is evident in these tracks. The personal and musical chemistry between Chet and Les is so good that you can hear it not only in their music, but in the little snatches of their conversational camaradie that the recording engineers left on the tapes. The mutual respect between these two musicians has created some of the most beautiful electric guitar recordings ever ... Read More:

I came very late to the Sweet, I was always told to listen to the LPs not the singles. A couple of years ago I did and my socks were well and truly knocked off.
Forget the Chinichap stuff, these guys rock with knobs on and bells and whistles to boot. All my buttons are pushed with the combination of exquisite musicianship, melodies, hooks, even a drum solo that Carl Palmer would be proud of.
Pop never rocked this much ever. Get the albums and savour the contrast between those godawful covers and the sometimes insane musical delights contained within.
