I've no doubt that all my opinions on this album have been mentioned in previous reviews so I'll be brief.

Every song on Nirvana is a classic. The better known songs (Smells...,Come as you are, Lithium) don't overshadow the other 9(10?) at all. For this kind of sound to be generated by a 3 piece is remarkable.

At the time of release Kobain's dark lyrics and manic delivery might have seemed a bit over the top and false but unfortunately time proved that he really was pissed off with everything.

A must for any rock fans collection.

PS 10 minutes after the end of the last song on the track listing another song starts up. Sounds a bit like a jam session but worth listening to.

Truly outstanding debut album from Black Stone Cherry, the most exciting band in rock at the moment. I've had the privilege of seeing them live a couple of times and they are the real deal! This album is grade a - from start to finish there really isn't a bad song, every one is top class. The energy is relentless and the playing exquisite, the South have a history of producing incredible music and these boys from Kentucky are the latest edition to that impeccable list. THis album is fantastic - really dirty, brilliant opening track, wonderful lyrics great melodies. 'Get it on' and 'I don't need you to set me free' are as good as any tracks on any Nick Cave album. Puts the rest of the rock world to shame.

"Silver Side Up" is an impressive rock album full of powerful, heavyish but very catchy rock songs. Melody and power are not always something that are captured together on rock albums but Nickelback have managed it on this to great effect. You are launched into this wonderful world with the gorgeous opening track "Never Again" and the album just does not let up, delivering one storming song after another. The combination of pace, power and enjoyment in a studio album is rare - extremely impressive!!

harrowing, infectual and experimental sounds make this a far superior offering to the pedestrian dummy.thats no too say dummy is lazy or derivative it has some great tracks and a consistant theme but i think it never really climaxed like this self titled lp. cringeworthy certainly not gorgeous and expressive absolutely rarely groups have the integrety to produce music that attempts something new and in doing so pushes the boundaries for a greater experience in their second helping i strongly reccomend this for anyone who is ready to emerce themselves in the greatness this sublime album has to offer

This is my favourite Foo Fighters album, I have owned it for years and still play it regularly. If you are just getting into the Foos then I would buy this first. It sounds a lot crisper and finished then the first album and you can just let play the whole way through as it flows really well. It also has Dave Grohl drumming on nearly all of it.

Although I like some of the later Foo Fighters singles there hasn't been an album that has matched this. It has the well known classic singles such as 'Everlong' and 'Monkey Wrench' but also memorable album tracks such as 'Hey, Johnny Park!' and 'Up In Arms'.

Velocifero

I can't understand how I'd never heard of this group until last week. I saw them as the support act for Interpol at Manchester Apollo and only caught the last three songs, but they were enough for me to buy Witching Hour on the basis of the reviews here. Witching Hour is sublime in itself and Velocifero is easily it's equal. As the other reviewers have mentioned the latter is more industrial, darker and in some places brooding. It's hard not to draw comparisons with Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, Orchestral Manoevures in the Dark, and even The Sisters of Mercy here but Ladytron do have their own distinctive sound. There are numerous stand out tracks ie Black Cat, Ghosts, I'm Not Scared, Little Runaway, Lovers, Versus, Deep Blue but even the less immediately appealing ... Read More:

I'm 34, I have a degree in literature, I don't know Lily Allen, but Kate is my new best friend and I really don't know what the negative comments are all about.
The lyrics are original, very eloquent, very very funny in parts, and excellent little stories in themselves. I don't know how to describe the music in terms of music cause I'm 34, don't know Lily Allen and generally haven't got a clue of what's going, but for me it's a great pick-me-up and (try to) sing along, and even the initially more annoying bits (in Mariella) make perfect sense when you listen to the lyrics (now one of my fave passages).
So. Great job, Kate. Loving it.

Lie Down In The Light

The first track won me over immediately, the rest of the album took a while to grow, but it has taken root in my head now. His voice is so rich and sweet, deliberating on each syllable.
