Just after "Kimono My House" was released, when interviewed by the British Music Press, Ron Mael hoped to "Produce a classic song every 6 months".
Well chaps you surpassed that achievement years ago. This one alone contains at least half a dozen classics. Absolutely brilliant, melodic, powerful and in the case of 'Let The Monkey Drive', probably the funniest song ever. What is there not to like about this album?
NOTHING!!
When are they going headline Glastonbury?
Probably never-cos' no other band can live with them!!

Lady's Bridge

This is the first Richard Hawley album I have heard and it is lovely. Gorgeous melodies and voice. I'll be getting his other work on the strength of this. If you like crooners, this should be right up your street.

............and am purchasing replacement because I couldn't live without it. Play it any time of day. If I play it after bedtime reading to my 6yr old, without a doubt, they'll be asleep before the CD finishes! This album can lift you, relax you, whatever you need, it can do it. Definately in my top 10 and I haven't changed my mind since that first Moon Safari CD purchased many years ago!

Superabundance

This is a totally underrated album by the magnificent Young Knives. Its classic edgy indie rock. The first half of the album is similar to stuff found on the excellent 'Voices of Animals and Men', with a polished feel. The album gets more interesting from Turn Tail onwards. Mummy Light the Fire, with its magnificent psychedelic feel, Flies and Current of the River totally change the feel and tempo of the album, hoisting it to 'classic' in my book. There is something slightly sinister about the Knives, especially when the House of Lords is singing, which I like, in particular and this feeling certainly increases towards the end of the album, when the music and lyrical delivery matches the darkness of the lyrics.

Man in the Machine

I bought this cd on the back of the singles 'Dust' and 'Man in the machine' but unfortunately these two tracks are as good as it gets really.
Royworld's music has a 1980's feel to it and reminds me of groups like The Blue Nile, Living in a box, Talking Heads ect and much like their music i doubt it is music that will last the test of time.
Heavily produced with plenty of electric pianos,synthesiezers and computer enghanced vocals,'Astronaut' being a prime example,a travelling in space type song so far removed from Dust you do wonder how that ever made the track listing.
This album could and in fact should have offered so much more from a band that produced such good songs as 'Dust' and 'Man in the machine' and whilst 'Wish ourselves away', ... Read More:

One day, about five years ago I was browsing thought my local supermaket for a cd. This eye catching red cd caught my attention I never heard of Blondie until I bought this cd! "Heart of Glass" and "Atomic" are defiantly my favourite tracks. This is the only Blondie hits complutation to ever be reastered and all the tracks sound great, the front cover is one of the rare photos taken of the group by Chris Rock. Five years on and I know everything about Blondie and they have to be one of my alltime favourite bands. Its a shame a lot people don't know about this amazing band! I recommend this cd above other compluations for the price and the hight quality.

The Hungry Saw

Have to agree with several other reviews I have read about this record making more sense after hearing it live. Had my doubts on first hearing "The Hungry Saw", but Tindersticks have always been a slow burner of a band. I owned "Curtains" for maybe a year before it worked its' way into my soul. You need to listen to this album several times before it works its' magic; but it is well worth the perserverance. Once it clicks, "The Hungry Saw" is simply gorgeous.

A Northern Soul

The Amazon review above is right in many ways. A Nothern Soul is rambling and full of bombast. It does have filler in it and isn't nearly as slick as its successor. This is a fans record if ever I've heard one. What current band would say 'I'm going to die alone in bed' or 'Too busy staying alive'? Few if any, for that matter, few bands in history would have the bottle to say that. This isn't a record that the radio would have on continuous rotation like Urban Hymns but by heck theres few records that have the lead singer laying his life out for all to see. What makes it all the more important is that Ashcroft could have grown up anywhere in the country not just Wigan and he'd have still said the same things, there was some painful universal truths in there, that ...
