With its lurid fluorescent sleeve N.M.T.B. is one of rock `n' roll's greatest debut albums. Johnny Rotten's lyrics and sneering vocals fizz with youthful angst (`Liar', `Problems' and `No Feelings) and sizzle with rebellious messages (`God Save The Queen', `Anarchy In The UK' and `EMI'). On the mordant `Bodies', the terrace-chant taunt of `Seventeen' and the exhilarating `Holidays In The Sun' the Pistols make obvious their love of the simple, primal, effective three-chord rock which Chuck Berry, The Stooges and the New York Dolls produced. These songs are all tightly structured and well-considered; they never venture far beyond 180 seconds and are sharp and snappy in sentiment and expression.

This album is brilliant, and although it sounds typical of its genre, it sounds unique and it does not sound boring or generic.
Instead, you can expect track after track of infectiously catchy, punchy, indie pop-rock with great instrumentals and vocals as well as well thought out lyrics.
You've undoubtly heard I Found Out. If you liked that song, you will like the rest of the album. There are no throwaway tracks on this album and each is as good as the rest.

A lot of people describe this as Jack and Meg White's finest accomplishment to date. Where it is impressive, it doesn't have the same fluidity as its predecessor, 'White Blood Cells'. However, it's nearly as good. Opener 'Seven Nation Army' has an intimidating, imposing bassline, and the sheer furious tempo of 'Black Math' are both impressive. 'There's No Home For You Here' is a bit 'Queen' but falls below the standard of the two previous songs. 'I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself' is brilliant. It starts quietly enough, but explodes during the choruses, and towards the end with Jack White's wailing guitar. 'In The Cold, Cold Night' is Meg's turn on vocals, and it shows as a weak point on the album. Track six, 'I Want To Be The Boy To Warm Your Mother's ... Read More:

I would like to take this opportunity to express my feelings not only about this album but also about the Human League who are one of my favourite bands and an inspiration, not only for their music but their togetherness as a band.
Firstly, the Greatest Hits album. The only track I'm not too keen on is the remix of 'Don't You Want Me' at the end, which I find a bit tacky (couldn't Virgin have put 'Heart Like A Wheel' on instead?). The other tracks on the album are of at least a good standard, with my favourites being 'Love Is All That Matters', 'Together In Electric Dreams', 'Human', 'Mirror Man' and 'Tell Me When' which was the song that introduced me to the band. Overall it is a superb collection of fine electronic music.

Much hype surrounded the Strokes. For this album it's all warranted. An all time classic that bears repeated listening over and over again. If you make it yours it will be a part of you.

In a way i believe this review will tie together to conflicting arguments of previous reviews.
4 times over the past 4 years i've stood in a crowd of hairy weirdos chanting the Joy.Discovery.Invention, or screaming the lyrics to Justboy- there's nothing quite like being surrounded by 1,500 like minded people singing in unison "i am hoping through the dark clouds, lights shall break and bring out bright skies"- anyone who's been there will know what i mean. Beautiful and uplifting.
And whilst the Biffy that i fell in love with would have gotten me laughed at by the same people who you'll find bopping along to this track nowadays, i don't begrudge them their success. They're an astonishingly hard-working band, didn't they play over 150 shows in one year a ... Read More:

Absolutely have to agree with Mark Astons review here over the missing-middle-eight-repetitiveness of this album. At first listen it sounds like a glorious sugar coated update of the Screams first album, "Sonic Flower Groove", with "Beautiful Future" and the "Glory of Love "(in both forms) particularly brilliant in a second-summer-of-pop type way. "Uptown" is good in the same way that "Trainspotting" and "Screamadelica" (the track not the album) were, and cover "Over & Over" is another Broken Bobby (TM) version of "Damaged". But it's true, all these songs sound unfinished and either repeat themselves adnausium in some sick loop after about 20 seconds, or else take the cursed fade out route at the end. Criminal stuff because this could have been once of The Screams best albums. ... Read More:

'International superhits', (like most bands best of's), is probably the best place to start with Green Day if you're new to their music and want to hear more. You get a pretty good selection of their hits, as well as some more obscure stuff. At 21 tracks, this album has plenty to offer and I defy anyone to put on 'Basket Case' or 'When I Come Around' and not crack into a big grin. This album showcases what a good rock band should be, simple, loud and fun. You can't ask for much more than that. Well worth a try.

wow what a first album! i own the empire album as well which is not too bad however this album really is something else! glimses of oasis and definately the stone roses in "processed beats". This album is dark and electronic - at least Kasabian have found their own sound and what a great tune to kick things off with "club foot" - possibly one of the most recognisable tunes of the last 10 years. Great stuff

I had no idea 'James' were back together and recording, let alone releasing a new album, such is the amount of press this new album has received!!! Which is really undeserved.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this latest offering, its been well over a decade since their last album, could they cut it anymore? Or would they be a sad embarrasment of their former selves? Oh yee of little faith!!! 'James' were responsible for some of the best indie rock anthems of the early and mid 90's, but also wrote some great, very poignant lyrics and they have come back with an album that shows more creativity and heart in one track than some of the more "mainstream/popular" bands have in a whole album.
Standout tracks for me are "I wanna go home" and the title track "Hey ma" which ... Read More:
