I bought this on the strength of customer reviews which made it sound like the kind of music I might like.
Wrong. I find the music turgid and monotonous. It is difficult to determine where one track finshes and the next one begins. The strangled warble which passes for vocals is very irritating.
It may work as backing music on TV but is does not stand up on its own.
Don't be taken in by the Sigor Ros appreciation society (whose entire membership seem to have offered a review here),try before you buy!

I'd class myself as a 'die hard' Feeder fan but I'd never go as far as giving this an unfair 5/5 as most seem to have done. This clearly is a return to more of an upbeat sound a la Echo Park & predassesers but I think the songs are less catchy or memorable. Its still very listenable from start to finish but I think they're mostly steady 3/5 songs- well that's how I mark them on my media player! I still hope they carry on (or are allowed to) for more albums to come.

In my opinion, yet another hype band. Sound like too many other bands but not as good in my opinion. Bands mentioned in other reviews such as Franz Ferdinand, Mogwai, Bloc Party are all much better.

So much for second album syndorme.
It races out of the blocks, with the pounding Girls And Boys, and impressively keeps the pace up for the best part of the album. Single worthy Shake! Shake! is a fantastic track.
And songs like Move To Newyln and All Or Nothing allow you to temporarily catch your breath before the stomping Turnaround.
The album is littered with huge festival sized tunes, and wonderful acoustic numbers.
The Subways have managed to improve every aspect of their debut album. The lyrics are stronger, the music is tighter and it proves almost impossibe to pick out a favourite track.

For a band that has been around in one guise or another for over 25 years to produce a 14th studio album of this quality is nothing short of astounding. This is an album you can inhabit. Buy it and move in and you will find it a space of beauty, troubling images, humour, poetry and simply amazing songs.
Tunes which are catchy at the first listen bring you back for more. Then, the wonder sets in. Each song is not simply lovingly crafted but a shining jewel of perfection and each one different, offering something new. Usually, the scourge of the 'skip track' button on your HiFi leads to a truncated album of the 2 or 3 songs you actually like. Here, I only use the 'skip back' button, to listen to the track again and again. It is so rare to ... Read More:

Been to see these guys a couple of times now and they're energy and interaction with the crowd (all but the drummer jumps in there) make them an exciting new prospect and this album doesn't disappoint.
The catchy rock rhythms and chili-esque vocals won't be to everybody's taste (particularly the current wave of music purists who are desperate to brag about the more obscure random bands out there and dismiss anything slightly mainstream and popular) but I deny anybody to not want to jump around to "In One Ear" or "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked".
It's quite raw but for a debut album, I'd expect nothing less! More good things to come from these guys

Considering the amount of hype that has followed this band over the last few months you could perhaps forgive them for not meeting expectations with their debut album; 'Partie Traumatic'. Fortunatly for them and us listeners they have managed to exceed them, with an exciting an relentless ten track treat.
They seem to have manged to create an album jam packed with singles; 'I Want To Be Your Limosine' manages to revive disco and bring it bang up to date with it's funky baseline and sleazy lyrics. Singles 'Hurricaine Jane' and I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance' are of course stand out tracks and sit happily alongside the girating 'Look At Me When I Rock Wichoo' to name but one. This album is more than likely set to be the party album of the summer, ... Read More:

Other My Morning Jacket albums have hinted at the bands eclectic approach to their music and influences, but none of their studio albums have ventured this far into new territory.Evil Urges is the sound of a band at its most playfully creative, and the results are a joyous mix of the expected and the slightly surreal.Like the Flaming Lips before them My Morning Jacket are not afraid to take chances and hope their audience keeps up.
Perhaps the most controversial track is "Highly Suspicious" which steals from Prince, with added oddness in its chorus. However this is just one surprise as Evil Urges builds to the climatic modern space rock epic "Good Intentions" that closes this uplifting, but mind boggling set of songs. It takes guts to break so completely from ... Having heard of editors but not knowing much about them i embarked upon eurockeennes de belfort festival 2007, midday on the second day and on came Editors, the set started well and i was instantly impressed with the quality of the live performances, as the set continued i felt being drawn into their sound and by the end i was impressed enough to order this album as soon as i got home. Also, another thing that impressed me was the fact that the lead singer came into the crowd with the public after their set to watch queens of the stoneage. The album is very good with some instant hooks and some songs that gradually grow on you, the sound is very unique for the time and although i can see similarities to JD i think it is unfair to labour them with the JD tag, the band are so much ... Probably the worst album to be released since the cover of the beatles album abbey road by St Thomas school for the deaf.
