White Denim's debut album `Workout Holiday' has been received rapturously by the critics and it is easy to see why. The record is an exhilarating mix-up of styles; raw garagey-bluesy indie rock augmented with unusual sound effects and off-kilter changes of pace and direction. There is lots of fun to be had trying to pin down the band's musical influences; White Stripes, Pavement and even Butthole Surfers came to mind for me.

But is it any good? The answer is yes indeed. This album is undoubtedly a cut above the unnecessarily huge number of indie pop albums being churned out at the moment. The songs are instant hits with catchy melodies and energetic music to back them up. After a few listens though, and a massive amount of radio airplay, what remains is a collection of tunes you're a little bit sick of.

The standout tune for me is Creepin' Up The Backstairs, the only track inventive enough to keep me wanting to listen weeks after I bought the album.

Gorgeous rich sound - very similar to the accoustics when I went to see the band play live at the Southampton Guildhall - that may be due to the location where the album was recorded. Unpredictable melodies and key changes make this a wonderfully challenging listen and something of an emotional rollercoaster. So grown-up that poppy hits like "Get Over It" seem almost too simplistic and commercial. Awesome musicianship and highly versatile vocals. Definitely my album of the year! I would give this a 4.5 if i could, but being a mathematician I have learned always to round up, therfore it gets the 5 star treatment.
Opens up beautifully and sets the tone for the next 4 tracks.
Mykanos is the stand out track for me and the highlight when I saw them live also.
Basically I would recommend anyone to buy this as I really cannot see what there is to dislike, the harmonies are perfect and the landscapes created by the lyrics are beautiful. Probably stronger than the album but you should just buy both anyway.
That's all I have to say about that.

Agree with every review posted so far.

This band are amazing, I've liked all there previous songs but this is the First album I bought from them and it is quality stuff, I will now br buying all the other ones to catch up.

I cant believe this band dont get the recognition they deserve, they are awesome. Buy this album, you will not be dissapointed!!!

Formed in Franklin, Tennessee in 2004 Paramore are a four piece band led by teenage female vocalist Hayley Williams backed by Josh Farro on guitar/vocals, brother Zac on drums and Jeremy Davis on bass.

Genre-bending Hot Chip have not only released some of the singles of the year but one of its best albums. As with Gorillaz and Gnarls Barkley recently, mid-way into the `noughties' we are starting to see some real wit and invention in pop music that may come to define the decade. `The Warning' finds them putting heart and soul into their curious mish-mash of folk whimsy, house and electronica. For all the sonics and low-fi trickery, and the comedy lyrics, there is beauty and genuinity shining throughout. Having heard of editors but not knowing much about them i embarked upon eurockeennes de belfort festival 2007, midday on the second day and on came Editors, the set started well and i was instantly impressed with the quality of the live performances, as the set continued i felt being drawn into their sound and by the end i was impressed enough to order this album as soon as i got home. Also, another thing that impressed me was the fact that the lead singer came into the crowd with the public after their set to watch queens of the stoneage. Now then folks, I'm of a certain age - early forties is all I'll admit to - and I like my music aged, preferably recorded sometime between 1978 and December 1989.

I was listening to Marc Radcliffe on Radio 6 in the bath like you do and he played this track...it was fantastic...I stopped soaping my duckie and thought to myself "hold on, I must have missed that first time around, I wonder who it is?" Well, you could have knocked me down with a bottle of Radox when he said it was the new single by a band called Neon Neon.

Intrigued, I checked Amazon and found that there was also an album. I bought it and I love it.
