I was quite slow on the uptake with KOL, I only bought this album a year ago but it remains possibly one of my favourite albums and is rarely far from my CD player. I've never once got bored of it and can sit through the entire album without skipping a single track. Happy Alone, Molly's Chambers and California Waiting are possibly the best on the album. Can't wait to see them for the first time in Glastonbury! Utter brilliance.

Initially, I found this album to be disappointingly bland. Each song seemed to sound alike, with no stand-out tracks. This turned out to be a good omen; all my favourite albums are not immediately likeable. I could really appreciate the quality of 'Silent Cry' after four listens. It is quite an epic sound, with universal lyrics. 'Sonorous' gives a nod to the old grunge days; 'Into The Blue' has an indie disco influence; 'Tracing Lines' is upbeat pop. The guitars and rhythms are heavy, which signals a new burst of confidence, if not a return to the pre-CIS sound. However, a bit of piano or keyboard would have been welcome at points! The two extra tracks on the deluxe edition are probably not worth it, though, unless you are a completist.

Sorry but I have to say there are a lot of elitist Radiohead 'fans' who seem to think they own the band and less knowledgeable need to be kept out. Well apart from their parents all fans started somewhere along the releases and these fantastic tracks will spawn another generation of fans.

This is the first time I have bought a REM Cd and so far, the tracks I have heard are great. Every song on this album is great.
Release Date April 17, 2006
To be honest, I did not think much of "Who Killed..." A couple of catchy pop tunes, for sure, but it was "bubble gum" music for the most part. This album remains true to the band's sense of having fun with their music, but it has a much more confident sound and the production is much improved. Touring the States with The Killers also seems to have rubbed off on how the band now sounds. Moreover, to their credit, the record again romps home in just over 40 minutes.
The themes are varied and frequently concern the more mundane aspects of life - the stress of taking public transport to work ("Tired of Hanging Around"), why good nights out always end in miserable hangovers the next day ("It's the Little Things We Do"), or getting over a relationship ... This is not their best album, worth listening to, definitely. I would urge you to buy it but if it's a choice of different muse albums go for Black Holes and Revelations. Very good lyrics and the songwriting is upto scratch as usual. Still very good.

I love this album, but for me even though I think it contains some of their finest work todate, I can't help but prefer Plans which to me was as near perfect as an album can get!
You can tell that the band are moving in a new, exciting direction with this album, and whilst in the main it works, the intro on I will possess your heart for me is just far too long and repetitive.
However, there are some to soon become classics such as Grapevine Fires and Your New Twin Sized Bed. I think the lyrics are achingly beautiful, and can be related to by anyone who's experienced love and loss.
I would highly recommend this album, but I would also say if you have not heard their Plans album, treat yourself to that too.

If you are a massive fan of their old sound, of the Nu metal, then you should definitely avoid this album. If you are a music fan with an open mind then you should definitely purchase this. The sound that they have created is incredibly different. I really don't know why they changed that much. Once I like a band's sound I really don't like it when they try and reinvent themselves to change that, and that's exactly what Linkin Park have done here. I bought Meteora as my first Linkin Park album back in 2003 and I instantly loved it. The sound of the music was so unique, and to a 13 year old, pretty surprising as well. Meteora was the band's pinnacle and it is such a fantastic album. Then, after a couple of years of no activity from the band, I was highly anticipating ... Read More:

First things first, there are already two Joy Division compilations out there, Substance which personally i think omits too many essential JD tracks, and Permanent which i think is a great introduction to the band but scandalously leaves out "Digital".
Well this album has "Digital" and most of the songs a casual listener would want but it is worth noting that two key tracks "She's Lost Control" and the timeless classic "Love Will Tear Us Apart" appear on here in the less familar alternative versions which are longer but less catchy (to my ears at least!).
A big selling point is the extra cd containing two complete Peel Sessions, each of 4 tracks, plus 2 songs recorded for Something Else and an interview with Ian Curtis and Stephen Morris.
I own both this and ... Read More:
