This album has to be one of the most long awaited albums for me all year, and to give it to you simply, this album is absolutely fantastic! I was slightly concerned when they announced that they were leaving 'Tooth and Nail Records' and going 'Universal' but nonetheless, Anberlin have been in this business to know what good music sounds like and with their stunningly produced debut 'New Surrender' they totally shatters any preconceptions from their past and new label! They're back! They're new and improved and have probably produced one of the most catchiest and rockiest album this year! Possibly in they're entire career? In my opinon I think it might just snatch the crown from NTFP!

"Want One" is, all things considered, Rufus Wainwright's best album. It is here that he perfected his baroque take on musical magic realism (which he fairly sustained through to "Want Two"), before his frankly surprising creative collapse on "Release The Stars" and subsequent escape into the qualitatively inconsistent cabaret pastiche of "Rufus Does Judy".
Here, proceedings get started on a pleasantly leftist note with "Oh What A World". The appropriately named "I Don't Know What It Is" cranks things up considerably, but keeps its meaning to itself. The pleasant electronic keyboard extravaganza of "Vicious World" recalls Stevie Wonder, while "Pretty Things" proves Rufus and plain piano go quite well together on their own.

It is rare to find an artist with such talent as Elliott Smith. ‘Figure 8’ is a masterpiece in everyway. In my opinion, ‘Figure 8’ was the peak of Elliott’s career. He carefully constructs a record that reflects both a combination of ‘Either/Or’, and ‘Xo’, which creates a creative masterpiece so much so that it is hard to find faults within it. The lyrics throughout the album constantly reflect Elliott’s emotions towards life that creates a real sense of intimacy within the record. This is my 3rd Counting Crows album and I was not dissappointed. You always know that you won't be let down with Counting Crows, there is not a bad song on here. Colourblind is probably my favourite, I think because I had heard this on the Cruel Intentions soundtrack and loved it, other songs worthy of a mention are 'Mrs Potters Lullaby', 'Four Days' and 'High Life'. Well worth a listen, good driving music as well.

Jarvis Cocker has done revolutionary things within his life time the most recent was in 1996 when he mooned Michael 'Creepy' Jackson at the Brits. In doing so he marked the begining of the down fall of the self proclaimed King of Pop and kiddie fiddle at large.

The first great thing however was 1994s `Different Class'! I forgot all about this album I loved as a young teen however I recently began playing it again, and with a new adult ear I was blown away at the passion and social statements evident in all lyrics! Take `common people' a song about middle class people wanting to pretend to be poor ! With the lyrics "You will never understand

Started A Fire

I bought this album when Amazon recommended it to me as I've bought Guillemots, Pigeon Detective, Kooks, etc music from here. The album is a good album, and fits in perfectly with the indie sound and scene. However, it is a little too generic for my liking.

They can play and they can sing and clearly have talent but I feel they need to try and develop their own sound and a unique selling point for themselves as although they're good, they're not great and will end up being just another one of many similar indie bands.

This is, for me, a 3 star effort. I hope their next offering is more unique.

My friend recommended this album to me, reminded me of lots of other great female singers first time round! Now I just can't stop playing it what a cracking album. Ps laughed my head off when I saw the bicycle video.I can not wait to see them live !

After hearing Razorlights 2nd record and enjoying it at the time. I decided to buy this debut offering, and after hearing this record i decided to listen to razorlight again and i found out that it actually isn't that good, Johnny Borrell's lyrics are heavily influenced by Pete Doherty and Carl Barat formely of The Libertines. Unlike 2006's Razorlight which is trying to be a album with a U2 epic scope, but this album is trying and succeds to be a album full of Libertines influnced tunes about London nights and romance. The first Track Leave Me Alone isn't the greatest opening to an album, although it is catchy enough to be a decent opening to the album.
