Ian Brown is in my opinion the best songwriter in the World. His wordsworth way with lyrics, his ability to incorporate different subjects into his writing I find wonderful. Ian Brown is also responsible for F.E.A.R. which is quite possibly the most intelligent piece of song writing ever composed. This album provides a batch of fantastic Ian Brown records such as Golden Gaze, Whispers, Longsight M13 and When Dolphins Were Monkeys. Ian Brown will probably never get the recognition he truly deserves which I find frustrating. He has not appeared to have forgotten where he comes from and the fact that he remains true to himself is a testament to the man. His ability is in my opinion undeniable. Ian Brown is The Greatest and this album will tell you why. ... Read More:

Joanna Newsom's latest is classic. She hasn't lost her freakfolk sound. She's just expanded it.
And she strays from conventional freakfolk in her second album, "Ys," by sticking to sprawling, intricate songs that clock in at about ten minutes average, and enhancing her folky sound with... an orchestra. It's a bit like listening to an acid-tripping fairy tell you her life story.
It opens with "Emily," a gentle little ballad that works itself up in a flow of violins. "The meadowlark and the chim-choo-ree and the sparrow/Set to the sky in a flying spree, for the sport over the pharaoh," Newsom warbles. There's a bittersweet note to the hints of loss, but Newsom also fills it with childish wonderment at the world.

This album with all its vibrant colour and form, with James Mercer's wonderful voice and moments jumping from gentle to outright hedonistic and flagrant is so very different to Oh, Inverted World. Its openness, its lyrical content, and the wild and exciting turn it takes from their debut is enough to ensure repeated listens. Intelligent, thoughtful yet youthful and carefree at the same time this album is a bundle of good things and I would urge anyone who hasn't listened to take a moment to listen. This is their most exceptional release so far (and I consider their latest release into the calculation) and at least for moments as incomparable as Gone for Good, an acoustic piece written about waiting around then moving on- for good, it is such a worthwhile visit.

In many ways the fate of PULP is rather tragic. They struggled for far more than a decade before they finally had their well-deserved breakthrough with 1995's 'Different Class'. After which they made the descision to turn artistic rather than mainstream - bad for record sales, good for the fans. As expected, as the music grew progressively better and more deep, the sales-number's dropped critically. This collection could be the opportunity for the band to show that they never lost the nerve, even if their later releases didn't spawn any great smash-hits like 'Common People' and 'Disco 2000' from before-mentioned breakthrough album.
The reason for this is that the album includes strictly only the songs picked for A-side releases - and while none of these songs are bad, ... Read More:

its so-so. all the tracks sound pretty similar though. But I'm not a major Hadouken fan.

The book of love is long and boring and i'm sure ......heavy. Los Campesinos! are a seven-piece (four boys and three girls) hailing from Cardiff. Their debut album Hold on Now Youngsters is an absolute indie party riot!
The album is full of perfectly sculpted indie classics. The highly charged, energtic songs are witty, creative and in all honesty brilliant songs leap at you like that first pint of Lager after a long week at work, slap you hard in the face, smile, and invite you to join their party - riotous tunes from start to finish.
No one with an ounce of a music brain should go on any longer without listening to You! Me! Dancing! - definetly a cult classic. That would get even the most cynical of critic bopping up and down. Whilst no other song might be quite as amazing, the rest are still quirky, fast paced indie-pop hits then will make ... Read More:
