I would give this a 4.5 if i could, but being a mathematician I have learned always to round up, therfore it gets the 5 star treatment.
Opens up beautifully and sets the tone for the next 4 tracks.
Mykanos is the stand out track for me and the highlight when I saw them live also.
Basically I would recommend anyone to buy this as I really cannot see what there is to dislike, the harmonies are perfect and the landscapes created by the lyrics are beautiful. Probably stronger than the album but you should just buy both anyway.
That's all I have to say about that.

Weezer were never a unique group, their blend of Kiss inspired tunes mixed with Beach Boys harmonies are true to the fact that they were nothing more four college/university friends putting together the music they loved. Of course their career has remained a storied one thanks to the awkwardness of River Cuomo's mindscape.
Although it was probably in a bad position when it was released back 1994, Weezer's self titled debut was and still remains their shining moment. Mostly famous for the Spike Jonze directed video for Buddy Holly and the incomparable Undone (Sweater Song), Weezer (or The Blue Album) is a blueprint (excuse the expression) in geekiness.
This is also probably the greatest reason why Rivers is one of ... Read More:

This album is great and definately worth the wait with the most outstanding songs being: Hippy's Son, Plastic Hearts, Tired of England, Faultlines and Best Face.... So half the album really, which proves just how great this album is. Infact the other songs i feel are not very far behind and i am sure they will grow on me.
This album shows the Dirty Pretty Things find a slightly calmer sound while still keeping that angry, exciting energy.
So all in this is a very successful second album and i think they have not fallen into the trap of producing poor quality second albums. This album shows the Dirty Pretty things find their style.

The 'Dylan Phase' refers to a statement a friend once made in regards to Bob Dylan's 1965-1967 phase, when everything he released, wheather on any of his albums or bootleg recordings, seemed to resonate with such greatness and importance as to reduce everything else to a mere substitute.
This is how I now feel Okkervil River are currently enjoying. With each release they seem to edge closer to a greatness that many aspire to but rarely claim. 'The Stage Names' was one of 2007's best records and this album just proves the vast amount of songwriting and playing talent that the band were creating around the time.
Songs such as 'Lost Coastline' and 'Bruce Wayne Campbell.......' would have perfectly slotted onto the parent album, but at ... Read More:
Best tracks: "More Than This", "Avalon", "True to Life", "Take a Chance with Me".
Roxy Music began life as a raucous, impossible-to-pin-down, rough, ready, post-modern and decidedly futuristic proposition; by the time of their last album, they'd become an entirely different band. Super-smooth, mature, elegant, streamlined and without a single note in the wrong place. I can imagine there may be some people who loved "Ladytron", "Editions of You" or "In Every Dream Home a Heartache" who refuse to have the time of day for Avalon, and vice versa. Roxy Music were certainly building their way towards this album's peerless perfection the moment they made their comeback in 1979 with their sleek, more chart-friendly Manifesto and the following year's ... The Masterplan is a B-Sides compilation full of great songs. There is an argument,in fact, for saying this is one of the very best Oasis albums. Certainly one of the most consistent. I think it's fair to say that it's time for another one-containing D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman,Round Are Way,Carry Us All,Cigarettes In Hell,Let's All Make Believe,etc...

Constructive criticism is one thing, but some of the scathing reviews I have read on here are nothing short of pathetic.
Quite what the hell people expect from Oasis in this day and age is beyond me. After years of relative underachievement, 'DBTT' should be celebrated not berated.
Between the release of 'Supersonic' in 1994 and the enormity of Knebworth in 1996, Oasis were untouchable. Two classic albums, nine fantastic singles (with phenomenal b-sides often topping them), a clutch of era-defining gigs... they weren't a band, they were living legends, and like many teenagers back then, Oasis meant the world to me.
But 'Be Here Now', for all its inspired moments (DYKWIM?, Fade In/Out, Don't Go Away) arguably pushed the formula too far, with a bored/arrogant ... Read More:

I never write reviews, but as this album has received wildly differing opinions I thought I would add mine. I love it. It's got lots of energy and the lyrics are interesting without getting too abstract. She is nothing like anything else out there, Lily Allen included (although she is great too), so don't try to compartmentalise. Just enjoy it. It's my most listened to album of the last 12 months as I can identify with the moods instilled by these songs.

Having heard of editors but not knowing much about them i embarked upon eurockeennes de belfort festival 2007, midday on the second day and on came Editors, the set started well and i was instantly impressed with the quality of the live performances, as the set continued i felt being drawn into their sound and by the end i was impressed enough to order this album as soon as i got home. Also, another thing that impressed me was the fact that the lead singer came into the crowd with the public after their set to watch queens of the stoneage. The album is very good with some instant hooks and some songs that gradually grow on you, the sound is very unique for the time and although i can see similarities to JD i think it is unfair to labour them with the JD tag, the band are so much more than that.
