Well i must say that this is a really fantastic album. from pounding fuzz riffs to mellow gentle melodies Liam Finn has created an album to be proud of. We have to remember this music is coming from a 24 year old who has played basically all instruments on the album as well as engineering it. The single Better to Be is a super opener to the album, along with songs like ill be lightening, gather to the chapel and the upbeat music moves my feet. You definitley wouldn't see James Morrison or anyone in around Finns age group writing so many emotionally charged songs. May it continue!

Back in 2001, guitar based bands were struggling to be recognised admist in the charts dominated by R'n'B, dance and rap. Boy and girl bands ruled the airwaves, and bands were nowhere to be seen. The Strokes came along with Is This It? at the right time, they brought bands back into the limelight, made it cool to play a guitar again. I remember being at Reading Festival the week before the album was released, there was a buzz, everyone wanted to see the band billed to be rocks saviour, in the end they switched The Strokes to the main stage.
The album is sheer brilliance from start to finish, and six years on, you can still hear the influence in many of the bands emerging now, much of what the British indie has to offer now is heavily ... Read More:

You gotta admit that this is the business when a quintet of South Londoners ignored the whole punk thing and got down to making music in the style of the 60s and 70s.Especially the 70s when Wings ruled.
They said Difford & Tilbrook were the new Lennon & McCartney-thats the bands built in songwriting unit but though many times they were as good there were no takers for their songs other than their own original versions.
Maybe Squeeze should do a covers album as Difford & Tilbrook make their own albums either solo or collectively.
Maybe somebody should do a tribute album-with so much variety the songs could easily be done 50s style.
As it stands Squeeze never had a No 1 hit and not much of an American career so they are bound to ... Read More:

Unfortunately this is a groaning disappointment. Fairly poor execution instrumentally and Gerard can barely keep his breath let alone emulate the recorded versions of the songs. Formulaic set lists and uninspired arrangements contribute to what is frankly, an average affair.
An overly produced record often results in a disappointing live show, not always, but this time is just does.
I'm a MCR fan, no doubt, but I have to be honest, this is mediocre at best. Why? I turned it off after three songs and thought 'I can come back to this later'.

Alright? I've said it. This is the best record I've ever heard, which, by definition, means I think it's better than the majestic Songs For The Deaf. No snap decision this; I bought this when it came out, I thought it then, I haven't changed my mind. Maybe my mind was more open at the time because I wasn't really aware of the importance of Nick Olivieri's role prior to his departure - but I certainly don't think that the album is poorer because he's not on it. In fact, I was delighted that Alain Johannes was able to contribute (and then bring his "Eleven" partner Natasha Schneider with him on the tour).
So what is it about this record? Well, how can you describe the beauty of a diamond? The musicianship, the mood, the production, the groove, the ... Read More:

I first heard 'The White One Is Evil' on a friend's iPod, and was immediately caught by the intense layers of music and the really catchy lyrics; also the sheer energy of the song that made me want to dance to this song that I didn't know the words to.
When I got the CD, I immediately listened to it, and loved every single track. Initially, I had my doubts about 'Lucky Star', but I warmed to the song, after I realised that the lyrics were actually quite decent, and the shift in tempo moved the track forwards.
The orchestra-woven 'Time After Time' is a fabulous introduction, and 'Parallel Worlds' explodes on the listener with all its supernatually good force. You actually feel like you're in the attic room with Ed and Alex, and all the weird ... Read More:

Went to the NME Tour in Feb and missed the Tings Tings as they were first on and I was being a drunkard in the pub. Was quite gutted as I heard Great DJ on XFM Manchester and fancied seeing what this band were about. So I got tickets to see them a couple of months later at the SugarMill in Stoke (duck)They were fantastic, great music, greats vibes, and for a new band a pretty good stage presence. Re-newed my faith in new music a little, as i was getting sick of Arctic Monkeys and Klaxons Clones!!!!!!
Release Date October 01, 2007
Although the band still manage to create great songs and sounds it was during the 1980s that they arguably produced some of their best work and indeed, created some of the songs of all time which made the band the worldwide phenomenon they are today.
Songs like Pride, With or with out you, I still haven't found what I'm looking for and Where the streets have no name are now iconic and serve to represent what was a golden era for U2 and the music world in general.
Even if your not bothered about the B sides this compilation is simply brilliant and well worth owning. For me it should be in any music lovers collection.
Just as a final note, the music does not stop at track 14. After 'All I want is you', you will be treated to a bonus track ... Read More:
