Their debut was stunning - there's no denying it. Mixing power, fury and at times comic instrumentation and vocals, it was always going to be a hard album to beat. But System have done it. Toxicity is an amazing album.

For those that dismiss Toxicity as 'too commercial' or 'too mainstream'. To make accessible music that still has the power and strength that nearly all of the tracks on this CD have takes a great deal of skill. How to make music sound not only familiar but also brand apsnking new and still like it has something incredibly important to say is the sign of master songwriters. And Toxicity has all of that in bucketloads.

A reviewer at the time of release said "Phew! there's not much room to breathe in here" and they were absolutely right.

The overall feel and sound of this recording is almost suffocating and that's a shame because this could have been a truly great Cure album. It's true to say that in many respects the Cure were going through the motions by this stage but Smith's musical talent had yet to vanish entirely.

Part of the problem is the production. It's stodgy. I don't think anybody but Smith had much say in it's recording. However, we do get great tracks like 'Lullaby' and 'Pictures Of You' that somehow escaped the midnight pillow of death.

I bought this album after "The Black Parade", and for anyone only just starting to realise the brilliance of MCR's music, I think that's the best way to go.It took me a while to get used to The Parade, but I then (roughly)knew what to expect from "Three cheers for sweet revenge".
Three cheers is definitely darker than the Parade, but after hearing their third album you'll be used to darkness and anger.The lyrics in most of the songs are very aggressive,but I guess that's what pulls you in. My favorite tracks are "Helena", "Give 'em hell, Kid", "To the end", "Jetset life is gonna kill you" "Thank you for the Venom" and "I'm not Okay (I promise)". For those looking for total electro, avoid getting this alhbum and just buy a few songs of iTunes like 'We Are Rockstars' 'Wierd Science' and 'Attack of the 60ft Lesbian Octapus' :] this is pretty much a really good album, and i like pop, and i like electro, but i think they should be kept seperate but then that's just my opinion (: not mind blowing stuff but worth a buy XD xx

Diamond Hoo Ha

I recieved "Diamond Hoo Ha" with much anticipation after the successful "Life on Other Planets" and their best album yet "Road to Rouen", but unfortunately to my ears sems a bit of a disappointment, just a collection of unexceptional, rather average songs apart from "When I Needed You", also "345" is a good song, I like the speeded - up "Clapton" guitar effect but overall the album isn't bad, maybe average, it just lacks the progression, immediacy and novelty of their previous LP.

Pedazo de álbum, probablemente el mejor de su carrera, aunque The Seeds Of Love fuera el más caro y grandioso.
Impresionante las variaciones de las secciones rítmicas, las melodías profundas y directas como esa entrada de "Head Over Heels" al teclado y guitarra o el tempo como "giratorio" de Everybody Wants to Rule The World con un bridge subiendo y bajando en la escala, "girando".
Instrumentos que ejecutan frases jazzísticas, la frialdad de Shout... En definitiva, impresionante, que manera de inventar genialidades. Por qué ya nadie hace algo así.

My wife,son(likes Michael Jackson)and daughter(likes high school musical)will all listen to this album.Which is a rare thing.After over a years listening it still seems to get better and could replace Joy Divisions 'Still'as my most played album.
I've read the production criticised in a couple of reviews,but the rawness is perfect for a Cribs record.I'm amazed it wasn't even nominated for an NME award but as Ryans probably saying "who cares".

Well, here we are again, happy as can be..... well, not quite as it happens.

For the umpteenth time since 1984, we witness the arrival of yet another Japan compilation, or should we say the best of their Virgin Records years. Quite simply, this compilation takes us, in recording terms, from late-1979 to late-1981. It almost completely ignores the band's Hansa material from 1977-1979, including classic cuts from their two 1978 albums such as the reggae-infused Rhodesia, the post-punk sounding Communist China, the moody pop of Adolescent Sex, the edgy Stateline and the epic Suburban Berlin. Sure, their earlier years were patchy, but there were some masterful highlights which have been purposely ignored here.
