This is a truly underrated album. At first i hated this album, but as the sensational Radiohead always do, i was sucked in by its brilliance. This album is up their with their best work. From the kick up the arse that is 2+2=5, the dreamy sail to the moon and the simply breathtaking There There this is a top quality album from start to finish. Back drifts also took me several listens, as well as Where I End and You Begin before i realized their greatness. There is something about Radiohead that i cannot put my finger on that sets them apart from any other band. Maybe its their intelligence, their lyrics, their originality, Thom York's insanely good voice or Johnny's magical guitar playing. Im not sure, but they really are in a different league ... I bought this after hearing an acquaintance playing it. There is not a bad track on this album. Each one is sheer, haunting, lasting quality with an incredible and unique vocal style. I probably listen to it once a week. Despite having all the other albums, all of which have their own strengths and merits, I keep coming back to this one and find something new in each listen. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Panic at the disco have a horrible reputation among the general public, Most likely due to their pretty boy image, and their first album having an 'emo sound', which is almost frowned upon these days, and pigeon holds a bit terribly.
I will admit I loved their first record, not enough to buy it though I ripped it of a friend, it wasn't perfect, but a few song were catchy and the lyrics had an certain charm. But with this album Panic have done what all great groups do in their lifetime, mix it up..this is a step in a whole new direction, the albums quite amazing, the production is fantastic and the vocals have improved highly, while in the first album it was just the lead singer singing, now we have four part harmonies and the guitarist getting some ... I love this album soooo much! Jenny Lewis's voice is truly amazing, she could sing anything, including addresses from the phone book, and it would sound fantastic. Add to the mix the Watson Twins voices and Im in heaven!
The songs themselves are sheer class, and the lyrics are witty, dry and very clever...

Having heard 'Visiter' playing in a record shop I did what I almost never do and asked at the counter what was playing and then promptly bought it! Some tracks stand out immediately, with the great guitar playing and driving drums and others take a few more listens, but once you get a feel for this album you will be very impressed. It's nothing like the usual pap in the charts at the moment (thank heavens) and sounds all the stronger for it. The booklet is very 'spare' to say the least, but that is of minor concern once you've got the album in your stereo and you're enjoying the music they create. If you like bluesy (although not quite the best description), original music then this is the album for you, well worth a try.

I was never in to Suede at the time, I dismissed them as playing up the MM/NME and something built up by the fawning press. (I did side with Suede on the issue with mockneys Blur) I was a Manic Street Preachers fan, that was that.
I bought this CD on a whim that I should at least give them the chance I didn't give them at the time, I quite liked one or two tracks so why not?
Boy did I make a mistake, Suede, I was wrong.
I adore this collection and it's been a regular player on my CD for the last 18 months.
Catchy, involved melodies, dark, beautiful and shiny. Delivered with more feeling for it's subject matter than say Pulp, it draws you in to an all too familiar world (for some of us). Great band, great music.

A lot of people describe this as Jack and Meg White's finest accomplishment to date. Where it is impressive, it doesn't have the same fluidity as its predecessor, 'White Blood Cells'. However, it's nearly as good. Opener 'Seven Nation Army' has an intimidating, imposing bassline, and the sheer furious tempo of 'Black Math' are both impressive. 'There's No Home For You Here' is a bit 'Queen' but falls below the standard of the two previous songs. 'I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself' is brilliant. It starts quietly enough, but explodes during the choruses, and towards the end with Jack White's wailing guitar. 'In The Cold, Cold Night' is Meg's turn on vocals, and it shows as a weak point on the album. Track six, 'I Want To Be The Boy To Warm Your Mother's Heart' sees Jack back behind the ... Read More:

Pinkerton, released in 1996 is widely regarded as a flop,it wasnt as summery and jovial as their debut which of course boasted the classic single 'buddy holly'.This album is a little more mournful and not as instant but still retains great sing alongs and a good dose of infectious melody, albeit,a little more disguised.
I first got this album on its release and loved it,it appeared to be heavier than their debut yet just as good, time has passed and the only thing that has changed is that i dont think it is as good as their superb debut but it isnt far off.
The album is littered with an array of classy little snappy numbers that have the power to imprint themselves onto your soul, this isnt a perfect album but it isnt far off, well worth your time.

I saw Devon Sproule at the Tolpuddle Festival recently - she's a great musician and I loved her set. Afterwards I bought this CD which she was kind enough to sign and to chat for a few minutes. A very normal, friendly lady. I have played this CD almost non-stop since then. It's very evocative of that idealized rural South that I hope still exists. It is totally charming. Devon is a great songwriter but, for me, the songs were not immediately obvious. The lyrics and music are maybe a little eccentric. But all good things take a little effort and, if you persist, I think you will fall in love with this album and the vision of Virginia it conjures up in your mind.

you're too old - no excuses. This album makes Metallica sound average, dated and out of ideas. The Blister Exists is the best metal tune I've heard in at least a decade - buy it for that if nothing else. This CD is the sonic equivalent of an 18 wheeler crashing through your frontroom while you're eating your tea.
