Right....oasis fans who think that oasis are the best british band since the beatles....listen to this.....Oasis' definately maybe got voted top british album of all time...pah! this is so much better, as is anything by radiohead, pink floyd and the beatles! Listen to songs such as fools gold, waterfall, i wanna be adored and i am the resurrection....these alone are better than any of the gallacher offerings....trust me and buy this!

Oh Inverted World

The Shins make great pop music. All of the songs on this album have a bright, catchy appeal. They are laid back but refreshingly original. My particular stand-out tracks are Caring is Creepy, Know Yr Onion!, New Slang, Girl on the Wing and Pressed in a Book. The only one I skip is the befuddling Your Algebra.

As well as the quality music, James Mercer's lyrics are a delight in themselves. Lines like 'a luscious mix of words and tricks' or 'no icicles stuck in my hide' show what an inventive lyricist he is. A pity you cannot always discern the words in the songs, but the CD jacket has them printed.

Chutes Too Narrow is the more accessable album so you may want to start your Shins experience there, but this is still ... Read More:

A stone cold classic, what? nearly 20 years ago now!!! still sounds fresh, edgy, thrilling and perfect, all these years later!
I was lucky enough to see them in 1990 When they were at the very peak of their powers, Doolittle was the pinnacle of their recorded work, not a duff track to speak of, the tone set by one of the top 10 album openers ever, "Debaser", the rest of the album skips along at a thrilling pace, catchy riffs, Frank Black's wail, Kim Deals propelling bass, Dave Loverings funky drumming, and Joey Santiago's unique guitar riffage! The album has abarbed wire exterior, but a pure pop heart, and it's this which will bring you back, time and time again.

With Nickelback in the charts at the moment with their number 3 single Rockstar, many people that like rock will have heard of them. However, the album- The long road is completely different, the first track, Flat on the floor is extremely fast paced and much more intense than some of their later singles (How you remind me and Rockstar).

This album is more heavy rock and grunge than other things in the charts at the moment. This is great if you would like rock to take over the charts once again. Warning! This is not a ¡¥feel good¡¦ album- it contains subjects of dark matter. E.g.

The Midnight Organ Fight

I'm going to keep this very simple...this is THE best album of 2008 - no question! I'm a big fan of guitar bands and buy lots of music (too much if I'm honest, maybe 6 albums a week) so trust me when I tell you that I know what I'm talking about!
Frightened Rabbit are a rare band - talented, passionate, interesting yet incredibly likeable. Some people may find some of their lyrics a little too dark (especially concerning the tracks 'The Modern Leper' and 'Poke') but Frightened Rabbit are much more than just slightly disturbing lyrics. I really can't think of a band to compare them to, and although Snow Patrol and Idlewild have a similar sound, both these bands are far more lightweight and 'fluffy' to deserve to be compared to F.R.

Black Stone Cherry

I seem to remember that this was recomended to me because I bought The best of Mountain (old 70's band), which was very good. The very good reviews led me to buy 'Black stone cherry'. But there doesn't seem to be anything impressive about it. It's very modern, sounds just like Nickleback. It certainly doesn't sound like (as all these reviews say) Led Zeppelin.
It really is identical to Nickleback, as far as genre goes. So if you like Nickleback, please buy it off me.

Love Bites

"Love Bites" probably falls into that "difficult second album" category of releases that have sent many bands on a one-way trip to oblivion. It's an easy forgotten album, being sandwiched between the pure energy of "Another Music" and the self-imploding, ecstasy adrenalin-rush of their final album "A Different Kind Of Tension". That's odd as the album contains their most successful single, "Ever Fallen in Love", which has deservedly moved into Classic Single Mansion.

The first thing you'll notice is the cover and lack of any design element. It's very, er...white. There's none of Malcolm Garretts' usual design flare seen on the bands singles and one album up to that point. Jarvis Cocker has done revolutionary things within his life time the most recent was in 1996 when he mooned Michael 'Creepy' Jackson at the Brits. In doing so he marked the begining of the down fall of the self proclaimed King of Pop and kiddie fiddle at large.

The first great thing however was 1994s `Different Class'! I forgot all about this album I loved as a young teen however I recently began playing it again, and with a new adult ear I was blown away at the passion and social statements evident in all lyrics! Take `common people' a song about middle class people wanting to pretend to be poor ! With the lyrics "You will never understand

The highlights of this album are great. However,I Can See A Liar, Little James And Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is are far from great.Had they been replaced with some of the B-Sides of the era (One Way Road,Let's All Make Believe,etc) it could have been a great album.
