The review used as the description for this album is nonsense. To use "plodding" and "death-metal sound" in the same sentance shows beyond doubt the reviewer doesn't know the field they're attempting to comment on (in case you were wondering, reviewer, what you should have said was "doom-metal sound").

Then you've got the reviews who say "music critics suck". No, you just don't agree with what you've read about this album. That's not the same thing. That's like saying "movies suck" when you see a bad one. If they'd all said what a great album this was you wouldn't be saying that. Songs in the of X presents total of 15 chapters, 2 of which are TXF themes. The first track is Mark Snow's longer version of the theme and it's absolutely great! Though this is a soundtrack for The X-Files, all songs in the disc haven't appeared in the show. Nonetheless this includes very good songs, my personal favourites are Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' Red Right Hand, Soul Coughings Unmarked Helicopters, Sheryl Crows On The Outside, Foo Fighters' Down In The Park and Filters Thanks Bro. The real stinker is Star Me Kitten, I wonder why this song has been included to this CD. All others are quite good. Recommended.

Rising out of the Berlin rave scene in the early 90's in an attempt to establish themselves in the 'alternative' (whatever that term means) electronic scene, ATR left their label to become the founders of Digital Hardcore Records and release their first album in 1995, Delete Yourself.

This compliation is a fair introduction to the band, spanning their entire short career from their roots in the then still emerging hardcore and breakbeat scenes to rock influences (Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine makes a guest appearance in Rage) and a dose of genuine originality.

Nitzer Ebb never Made It. They came close many times, but they were always slightly too abrasive, too spiky, to dent the charts. And to play music that heavy without guitars was practically suicide to those of closed minds.

"Body Of Work" - a 2disc retrospective spanning 1985-1995 - sees their 19 non-hit singles lined up in chronological order and backed with a second disc of remixes. Live Aus Berlin

This album records Rammstein live, and the bad are notoriously wild in live perfomances. However, the album starts slowly, and the band's choice of opening tracks are far too tame, and at first the listener feels rather let down. However, "Weisses Fleisch" really starts to heat things up, and by the time we reach "Sensucht" the band are in full glorious flow. For the rest of the album the band boom along, with only two tracks slightly slowing the relentless pace ("Wilder Wein" and "Rammstein" slightly break the momentum, but not seriously so). Having seen Rammstein live, I can testify that they have definitely gotten better live since this album was recorded, so if they ever release another live one, keep an eye out for it. Edges of Twighlight [Us Import]

When Tea Party released their debut "Splendor Solis" back in 1993 it seemed they had set their standards so high that the second album would never compare. In 1995 "The Edges of Twilight" proved that the difficult second album needn't be quite so difficult. Rockier than its predecessor, TEOT boasts tunes which are dramatic, fiery and moving. Like the debut album the sound of this record is hard to categorise. Kicking off with "Fire in the Head" and "Bazaar" you would call this a proper Hard Rock album until the acoustic softness of "The Badger" and "Shadows" alongside the Gary Moore-esque "Drawing Down the Moon" make you think otherwise. Shut Me Up (The Remixes +3)

This is a truly brilliant CD, released at the high-point of MSI's career. Featuring three remixes and the original demo of 'Shut Me Up', it goes above and beyond by providing us with two new songs, and two remixes of their other hit, 'straight to video'.

Admittedly, the STV mixes, while good, are largely forgettable, but the SMU mixes are all quality, particularly the first, which is a slightly tweaked, and much harder hitting update of the original.

Of the two new songs, 'Adios Amigos' is an instant classic, great for playing either on your own or with a couple of like-minded MSI fans. The other track, a cover of Biggie Smalls 'Big Poppa', is an obvious attempt at recreating the success of their mind-blowing 'Bring the Pain' cover. While certainly not ... Read More:

If you are reading this, you're probably already a huge fan of the Cabs like me. If not...Its fair to say that Cabaret Voltaire have one of the most lovingly preserved back-catalogues of any band. Almost all their LPs are still in print, and recently Rough Trade and Virgin have released compilations of their best material from two phases of their 29 year career under the 'Original Sound of Sheffield' banner. Buy them.

If you like those CDs, work your way through their back catalogue. If you're still not satisfied get this!

My first Puppy album, believe it or not. I was a little concerned, because some people had dismissed it as a disappointing comeback, too poppy, too (blech) nu-metal, and so on, and so it was something of a gamble buying it.
I have little idea what they sounded like before, but if their previous stuff is even one-tenth similar to this, I'll be spending all my pay packets of 2005 rescuing all their albums from the darker corners of Amazon.
This is a quite stunning, complex little beast; electro-industrial rather than industrial rock, more Frontline Assembly than Ministry (I guess.
