I first became interested in Emilie during her 'Opheliac' phase, and was finding it extremely difficult to get hold of this particular CD. Thankfully when it was re-released I was able to buy it at the merchandise stall of a concert. And it's well worth a listen.
While most of the songs are dreamy, with Celtic and classical undertones, there are a few oddities - for example How Strange, the rhythm of which reminded me somewhat of R&B-type music.
Some of the tracks, for example Rapunzel and Juliet, have faster, slightly more industrial beats. Preludes to the direction of the following album Opheliac? Perhaps.
Anyway, if you're an EA fan, this album is a complete must-have - it's very different to her current sound, but equally ... Read More:

A stunning piece of work! If, like me, you had thought Throbbing Gristle were primarily noise and angst, 20 Jazz Funk Greats introduces a whole new dimension to their sound. A track like Beachy Head is gentle, beautiful and yet unsettling. On the one hand it's a pure instrumental tone-poem, but then the fact that it's named after Beachy Head, the UK's most notorious suicide spot, adds a new level of refined macabre to TG's pallette.

And it's got some of the best cover artwork ever... with a nasty kick for the observant.

Side note: I remember reading that Throbbing Gristle were an influence on Boards of Canada, but couldn't hear the lineage until I got 20 Jazz Funk Greats. Just compare a track like ... Read More:

If you read the reviews - opinion is clearly split on this little EP!

Personally, i loved it when it first came out, and 15 years on, its actually matured with age!

I'm going to polarise further with this remark - but this is one for the connoisseur of industrial. It harks back to the earlier days of industrial, before the genre was hijacked by overused guitars and standard (boring) metal overtones. The sound is minimal and bleak. The samples are choice and abrasive. Vocals are repetitive but effective. And the programming, even 15 years on, its absolutely awesome. Man, this is just a classic - similar in tone to the late 80's output of Ministry. (Think 'stigmata' etc). And if all that interests you - then buy the EP now.

Rammstein are my favourite band so its hard for me to say a bad word about them. Although Hertzeleid is my favourite album I also really like this album. Its always best if you play any of their songs loud, who cares about the neighbours anyway? I like metal music and Rammstein have put their own individual twist on it which works really well. My advise is to at least listen to some of their songs then you will know what I'm talking about, then buy the albums, they don't have a bad one yet!!!

The Day the World Went Away is the finest piece of music I have ever heard. Infact, it isn't just music, it's a state of mind. It's a song which, despite being so loud, is unbelievably mellow and relaxing. Plus, it's followed up by Starf*ckers, another fantasitic song, brilliant for moshing too. And the finale, the 'quiet version' of The Day the World Went Away, is more mind-bending than 'A Warmer Place' (from The Downward Spiral).

Friends of music everywhere, buy this single, go on, it's only four quid!

"Yesterday is a Friend" is an extremely enjoyable album of inventive and adventurous progressive rock from Polish band Believe.

It was only last year that I became acquainted with Polish progressive rock music through the excellent Riverside and their "Out of My Head" trilogy of albums. Both Believe (through their MySpace page and website) and their management like to make a comparison between them and that more famous band, as well as with even more stellar British bands such as Porcupine Tree and even Pink Floyd.

Soundscape wise the closest Believe come to these bands is to Riverside, particularly when the lead guitarist grabs the focus on the arrangement. However, citing these bands is not just a mere publicity stunt as their fans would ... Read More:

I have been a fan of industrial for years...and im an old git but when it comes to thundering choons of a dancey industrial nature i still lumber my fat arse onto the floor....this IS floor music...this IS INDUSTRIAL
This is brilliant...it is distorted machines,screwed up cyclical beats,riot inducing vocals and basically will rip you a proverbial new one if you even so much as dare to cross it.
This is KMFDM with bite....the bite they have seemed to lack ever since inception....this IS AWESOME...this is music to inspire rebellion,killing,cat eating...whatever the hell takes your fancy...
Simultaneously heavy,dancey and groove orientated it is a bastard son of everything good about industrial with added cone exploding bass.

These 2 albums are quite extraordinary, beyond words really. Unlaced has just left me reeling with its virtuosity, creativity and musicality which is not the reaction I expected to distorted electric violin. Genius? - I think so.

Really just ranks as average, one interesting dance mix but the rest's just filler. If you want a good nin remix a lbum download the Limitless Potential. It's a compilation of the top enteries for an offical NIN remix competition. There ar some real gems and it's free. So don't waste your money on this medicore cd, when there's a FREE album of good mixes out.
