I was disapointed by the quality of the recording - I (probably unrealistically) expected CD quality but found it to be worse that cassette. The songs are not the best but I could have lived with that if the sound had been acceptable. One for the bin in my opinion.

This performance of Rachmaninov's second symphony made quite a stir when it was released on vinyl back in 1973 and although that may seem like a generation ago (because it is, sadly!), this newly (1999) re-mastered version succeeds in recapturing the excitement which its original release created. Prior to this recording, Previn and the LSO had toured with the symphony to Russia, where the unexpurgated version had not been heard for years, and it caused a sensation. Listening to this recording, it is not hard to understand why. This is unashamedly beautiful and lyrical music, played by an orchestra and conductor who had no misgivings about whether the music was fashionable or not, and given its full measure of feeling, with great drama and ... In fact this is the only film of Tinto Brass that I have been able to obtain with English subtitles, leaving the original soundtrack intact. All the others I have seen were completely ruined, as usual, by the clumsy dubbing by the same old dubbing studio and the same old actors. They have also ruined hundreds of other films and TV series and should have been put out of business decades ago.
The well known English actor Frank Finlay in the main male part appears with his own voice.
Although there is, strictly speaking, really no single 'great erotic scene' in the film, there are a great many very well handled 'candid' erotic scenes generously distributed throughout the entire film and the cumulative effect is truly joyous. ... Read More:

...BUT...do not mistake the confused listing details on this item to mean you are buying a movie with Whoopi Goldberg in it! She is in a TV series of the same name but NOT in this movie. This item is the DVD of the movie.
The movie is very good indeed. The only reason for the 4 stars (not the full five) is that I wanted it to be perfect but the acting and directing sometimes lets it down - but I am nit picking! It is great really and certainly one I recommend to everyone at any given opportunity!

This is a great album, my personal Santana favourite. However, there is nothing to suggest on the box that this album has actually been remastered, or that anything has been done to 'buff up' the sound, despite another reviewer's praise for the improved sound quality on this release. Maybe this is just a reissue rather than a remaster. If it were the latter surely that fact would be advertised on the packaging.

In 1969 (when some other guys were doing something trivial like landing on the Moon) Colosseum's Valentye Suite stood out head and shoulders above everything else being played - quite magnificent!
The Valentyne Suite (when I were a lad) only had 5 tracks - but is almost perfect. Hiseman's drumming is astonishing, Dave Clempson's guitar playing on a par with Clapton, along with the incredible Dick H-S (RIP) on sax - and the swirling organ from Dave Greenslade.
The Tracks
1. Kettle - Roaring start to the album. Everything a jazz-rock track should be, but with that special, distinctive, Colosseum magic.
2. Elegy - just beautiful, with delicate strings. Tears to the eyes.
3. Butty's Blues - Yes, it's a Blues piece with great sax
