Well, This is one of the most amazing records I've ever had the pleasure of sitting through. The Piece basically whisks you off to a cross country overnight train, the effects Wynton & the amazing LCJO create completely capture the ambience and feel of actually embarking on an exciting new journey, enjoying a drink in the bar, watching the countryside go by, falling asleep and waking up in the train. Definitely has earned pride of place in permanent fixture in my CD player. I simply can't do this enough justice, you have to hear to believe, and you will most definitely NOT be disappointed.

What a truly great tenor sax player, experience some of the best compositions of his age, swing, blues, jazz, soul. Shame Ben never lived to see the revival and true appreciation of his art, nevertheless I recommend a unique posthumous sound of a genius player, one album that's a must for your collection.

John Taylor has often been compared to Bill Evans. Well, it is all but impossible to play jazz piano on a high level of pianism and not pay tribute to Evans. Also, any communicative trio playing what has come to be called chamber jazz is following the example set by Evans' trios. Taylor, one of the very finest European jazz pianists of today, does it both. Still, one must clearly accredit him with his very own style. I know no other pianist who can be highly abstract and immensely lyrical at the same time. Marilyn Crispell might come to mind, but she is usually one or the other, taking turns. Taylor is both at the same time. He is highly versatile and incredibly inventive. His own material often turns out to be as good as, or better than, all other ... Read More:
