I've never heard an ibiza album to date that has the quality of mixing, choice of songs, and overall feel as the The Ibiza Annual vol.3.
After a year the trance was at its best, MOS didnt make full use of the music available with volume 2, but volume 3 blew me away. The quality of songs is simply fantastic from start to finish - It Feels so good is a great way to start off the album, a classic breakbeat song, and after half a cd of fab house music, trance makes it way through and rounds off each cd perfectly.
The fact that this album actually does sound like a typical ibiza night is what makes it so good, it was made for the summer. An after listening to later albums, this must have been the last MoS ibiza annual to have true quality without ... Read More:

The Politics of Dancing Vol.1: Mixed By Paul Van Dyk

The choice of tunes on this compilation may have been a little predictable: iio's "Rapture", Ralphie B's "Massive" etc...have been heard many times elsewhere but considering how good they are, I do not begrudge Paul Van Dyk including them.

Right, that's the "average" part of the compilation dealt with, now on to why it is the best DJ mix compilation I have heard:

As expected, this is mostly a trance style compilation. But this is different from most. PvD's own Autumn typifies the more relaxed - yet still great to dance to - trance music that PvD has preferred.

Ibiza Chillout Session

Seeing that this follows after the excellent Chillout Session 2, i have to say i'm not impressed with this follow up. There are way too many tunes lifted straight from the previous 2 albums, and its not like there is a lack of quality chillout music to choose from!

MoS also seem to have a knack for choosing rubbish remixes of certain songs on their compilations, such as Jakatta's American Dream (the definitive version of which appears on Chilled Out Euphoria) and Bent's Swollen. Why they decided to go with the remix they did rather than the totally brilliant (and in my opinion more chilled) Dusted remix is beyond me.

On the other hand, it's not all bad. If you don't own Chillout Session 1 or 2 from MoS buy this by all means, but if you ... Read More:

Back to the Old Skool - Hip Hop

Ive heard all the ministry compilations and id say that this one and the old skool volume 2 one are by far the best.Both are probably the best representation of the eras without any terrible commercialised tunes. Though i recommend for the real deal in old skool search out an independant music store where they have live mixes and performances, digitally re-mastered by top DJ's and PA's from back in the day, for exapmle i have a graeme park mix from the Hacienda in 1989 with hip hop and house classics with all the noisey atmosphere of a real rave, which i think is much better. In conclusion buy this if you have to, but otherwise go for the live acts thing if you want the real deal

Clubbers Guide Summer 2005

This is pretty much what you'd expect from Ministry - quite a few chart hits, some of which have been around for a while now. There is better music out there, but this is a good bit of summer fun.

Personally, I prefer CD2 to CD1 as it flows better and has more of a trance element. That's probably the worst thing about this release - a lot of people will only like one of the two CDs.

House Classics

This release was so fairly overlooked by most shoppers. After years of crappy compilations of old skool favourites, it's perhaps no suprise. But unlike it's counterparts, this compilation manages to avoid a simmilar fate and is, in fact, an excellent overview of the best in commercial house from the late 80's onwards. From the power-houses of vocal house [I'll try and cut back on using the 'H' word from here on] that are the first three tracks of the first disc, right through to the supreme simplicity of the instrumental tracks like 'Time to Stop' and of course the timeless 'Plastic Dreams', it's all here.

I really would recommend this to any house or dance lover. I'd especially give it the thumbs up to anyone just starting to get into house. This CD ... Read More:

Ive give it 4 star because cd1 could have been a touch better i feel. Cd1 kicks of well with anice relaxed version of heaven and tunes like my vison etc.But i feel futher on in the mix the tunes are not as good as they could be.cd2 though stunner less realaxed but that cds full of so many classics. With tunes like love story,take me with you and out of the city what a chillin classic. But cd1 good but not the greatest but it worth the money.Make sure you check out The Very Best of Chillout sessions .
