This was Enya's first solo album originally released in 1987 under BBC records and then repackaged and re-released in 1992, which included a revised version of Portrait. This is primarily a sound track album, and contains mainly instrumentals, and although it only has one song in English "I Want tomorrow" what a song it is! it even contains an electric guitar! sounds strange for Enya, but works brilliantly! There are some true gems to be found on this CD especially tracks like The Celts, The Sun In The Stream, Portrait(Out Of The Blue), and To Go Beyond. Well worth adding to your collection! :o)

Wow, when I first saw this cd I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as the first set which were brilliant, and had most of the better known heroes and their stories on them. Stories like Herakles and Jason, Theseus and Perseus, but I think this set of tales is even better! The sound quality is excellent and Ben Soames voice is really lively, bringing these tales to life. I listened to them on a long drive up to Scotland and I was really transported by the storytelling. The music is well chosen too and my kids 12 and 14 really liked them too. I had read versions of some of these stories before, but there are some great action sequences, like when Belerofon kills the Kimera and some beautiful descriptions, of Pegasus, the winged stallion and proper ... Great music indeed, great atmosphere and giant McKennit's open mindedness.
A must for lovers of world music with a celtic breath and a coming from beyond Loreena's voice.

A must for anyone who is capable of thought, this collection will stun you on its first hearing (this is normal, it will always happen), the lyrics/poems having a raw power that will make you wonder why you have never been able to write as he can. Scared of no-one, there can be no doubt JCC is fearless in what he does write, but that's not to be thought of as arrogance in any way at all, no, it's observation of the highest order - he has something to say for sure. As for others here commenting on the music accompanying the words, I can only say that the strident/near discordant style actually enhances the tracks for me, in that respect Beasley Street is a tour de force - it's not music plus lyrics, it's music times lyrics. A great collection from ... Read More:
Most, if not all, of these recordings have been released previously by EMI, while some of them - notably the 1965 Elgar Cello Concerto - have proved so popular that they have been continuously available since their initial release.
Despite the inevitable duplication - du Pre fans will almost certainly already have the Elgar and Haydn concertos - this is undoubtedly the definitive Jacqueline du Pre collection, providing 17 CDs of cello works by a huge array of composers from baroque (Bach and Handel) to Beethoven and the romantics and modernists such as Chopin & Bruch. There are no fewer than 25 different composers represented.
The set really does demonstrate the versatility of the cellist, with so many works which ... Read More:

I HAVE A SERGIO MENDES ALBUM FROM THE LATE 60`s . WHEN HIS BAND WAS NAMED "Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66" BUT IT`s ON VINYL AND I HAVE`nt GOT ANYTHING TO PLAY IT ON NOW. SO WHEN THIS WAS LISTED IN THE 3 C.D`s FOR £10 SECTION I THOUGHT I WOULD BUY IT TO BRING BACK OLD MEMORIES. I AM PLEASED I DID. HIS MUSIC BRINGS THE SUN OUT EVEN IF IT`s RAINING. SO MUCH OF HIS MUSIC IS USED AS BACKING TRACKS BY T.V ADVERTISERS & PROGRAM MAKERS,
THAT HIS MUSIC IS THOUGHT TO BE COOL AGAIN. THIS C.D HAS ALL HIS GREAT MUSIC ON.
JUST LISTEN TO THE FIRST TRACK `Mas Que Nada` IT`s WORTH BUYING THIS C.D JUST FOR THAT.THEN LISTEN TO HIS INTERPRETATION ON BEATLES CLASSICS LIKE `DAY TRIPPER / NORWEGIAN WOOD / FOOL ON THE HILL / WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS`WHICH ... Read More:

If you only buy one Rick Wakeman album this is the one to get. OK it sounds dated now, and some of the synthesizer sounds are frankly horrible, but in many ways its a classic album.
The melodies are its strongest point. There really are some lovely tunes on this album, and they given extra emphasis by some great orchestral arrangements such as on the opening track "Arthur". There is also superb choral backing by the English Chamber Choir, perhaps most notebly used on the short track 2 "Lady of the Lake". I had Journey to the Centre of the Earth on vinyl decades ago and there is no comparison. Arthur is superior in every way.
The weakest part of the album for me are tracks 6 "Sir Galahad" and 7 "The Last Battle". I was never keen on ... Read More:

Listening to this CD was my first extended experience of Aled Jones(the older's) singing. I am very glad I gave myself the opportunity - and not just because of the very-reasonable Amazon price!
I have to say, therefore, that the singing on this CD merits some pretty fulsome praise. My overall impression is that, blessed with one of the most euphonious, light-baritone voices I can remember hearing, any song Mr Jones might choose to sing - within his popular/popular classical, religiously-oriented repertoire - would make extremely agreeable listening. As far as the contents of this collection are concerned, he sings it all with admirable clarity, tunefulness and lack of emotional affectation. I think I will take pleasure, repeatedly, in listening to most ... Read More:
