Eno and Byrne described the sampling (I know they did it manually with tape rather than with a sampler machine) as using "found voices and sounds. It is a shame that in the wake of the Satanic Verses that Eno and Byrne felt it necessary to drop Qur'an and that it remains dropped from the new version, as here it is use for the beauty of the sound of the voice. The context sets the voice off very effectively and in no way takes away from the spiritual integrity of the prayer. As I recall the removal of this track was not in response to any specific threat but just in response to the general climate of fear at the time, shame on those who threaten violence in the name of god. Incidentally the album from which Eno and Byrme sampled the voice for ... Read More:

An EXCELLENT album - the sound quality is astounding! the cd is a big improvement in sound quality compared to vinyl (for a change!). My favourite track, ANNE OF CLEVES, is a masterpiece. Crystal clear recording, Rick's keyboards and Alan White's drums come literally crashing out of the speakers, definitely one to get you moving! In fact this whole album would rank alongside any Yes album. Very highly recommended, an essential addition for any Yes/Classical/Prog Rock fan.

Not a bad CD. But The Wurzels seem to have jazzed up some of the songs, bit of a disco beat. My 7 year old thought they were good to dance to. Having said that they do sound good, but not what true Wurzel fans might expect. Some of the song I remember Adge Cutler singing, and thought Pete Budd's versions wern't as good. He seemed to be trying to sing them in Adge's style & personally thought that didn't work. If you prefer the Wurzels now then you will probably enjoy this CD. Fans of the older stuff, namly Adge, may not.

The fictional detective Paul Temple was created by author Francis Durbridge in the 1930's.
Durbridge's style of fiction writing is very much from the Agatha Christie and Dorothy L. Sayers sta-
ble. Therefore you know exactly what to expect. Well spoken upper class/ upper middle class central
characters, intricate plots, red herrings galore and a mounting body count. I have grown to love the
genre, but I admit I was only introduced to Paul Temple very recently by a friend
Paul Temple is in fact one of the BBC's most popular and long running series being produced from
1938 until 1969. Most of the older recordings have unfortunately been lost and this prompted the cor-
poration to recently ... Read More:

I find this disappointing.
You'll probably like it if you like military bands in general, but it's not really pipe band music. It's pipes mixed in with other stuff.
And I have to say that the principal piper seems to lack a feel for the timing of the music.

I bought this triple CD collection after borrowing the "Requiem" CD from a local library and really enjoying it. Containing as it does not only the Requiem and (very different) the first "Adiemus" volume but also "The Armed Man", I found it an excellent introduction to Karl Jenkins' music. The "Requiem" CD also includes Jenkins' rich "In These Stones Horizons Sing" evocation of Wales - a great bonus. Whilst there are tracks on each CD that I don't really respond to, there is much that I really enjoy and - at the time of writing at least - was able to buy the collection at an astonishingly low bargain price.
