Christ, this is fantastic!! I'm a huge world music fan anyway but this is something really special.
It's interesting too how they meld traditional Irish dancing with Spanish and Balkan music, absolutely thrilling entertainment! I also adore it because my Grandpa was from Ireland and he was such a gentle, kind man. Whichever way you look at it, its classy stuff and worth every penny!

Have just bought this cd and it is excellent. From the outset the song Rebirthing is a real classic. Hard rock at its best. The cd really doesn't have a poor track throughout. They are a Christian band with positive lyrics which is refreshing considering some of the doom and gloom around nowadays. Buy, you won't regret.

I brought this on in my quest for finding music that would inspire me when I'm writing or drawing and believe me, it hasn't disappointed. I'd heard of Clannad for a very long time but only now do I realise how great they are and why I should have found them a long time ago!

This is a wonderful 'introduction' CD to the band. Some of the tracks, most of the more 'pop' type ones with guitars and the duets aren't to my taste. I much prefer the more Celtic and haunting songs such as 'Theme From Harry's Game' (a song I didn't even realise that was by Clannad! Derrr!!!) and most of the tracks later on the CD. However, that's just me and overall the CD is very enjoyable and very relaxing!

The Rutles were the brain child of Monty Python Eric Idle and born out of a sketch on his Rutland weekend television show. Whilst the subsequent film (All You need Is Cash) was a patchy, and only occasionally amusing Beatles parody, the music is pretty much spot on.
Songwriter Neil Innes was obviously a big big Fabs fan and his attention to detail in these songs in quite extraordinary. He also 'does' a great Lennon impression and manages to capture the Beatles sound in all it's many guises - 'Goosestep Mamma' is pure Hamburg/Cavern, 'Get Up And Go' spoofs 'Get Back' (apparently Lennon himself was very impressed) and 'Only Natural' could happily have nestled on Abbey Road. Wow, when I first saw this cd I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as the first set which were brilliant, and had most of the better known heroes and their stories on them. Stories like Herakles and Jason, Theseus and Perseus, but I think this set of tales is even better! The sound quality is excellent and Ben Soames voice is really lively, bringing these tales to life. I listened to them on a long drive up to Scotland and I was really transported by the storytelling. The music is well chosen too and my kids 12 and 14 really liked them too. I had read versions of some of these stories before, but there are some great action sequences, like when Belerofon kills the Kimera and some beautiful descriptions, of Pegasus, the winged stallion and proper gory stuff, like when ... This is the greatest album of the 1970's, the album that introduced ambient music to the world,confirmed Eno's genius, and inspired Bowie to make his 'Berlin' albums.Only five of the songs contain vocals. The opening song is an avant garde cracker that pulls us dramatically into Eno's pioneering sonic landscape. AGW'S mood is by turns reflective (St Elmo's Fire),elegiac (Golden hours), serene (the title song,The Big Ship, Becalmed, Zawinul/Lava), sombre (In Dark Trees,Spirits drifting) romantic,(I'll come running, Everything merges with the night) and adventurous (Sky saw,Over fire island) And Little Fishes is sublimely odd.
