Come on readers.....you're being a bit hard on Jason Parkes' review. If you've not yet discovered this truly WONDROUS album, then try and find the time to do so. It will change your life. This comes from a time when "Our Hero" was at the top of his game, features a truck-load of his greatest songs and provides the perfect insight into Todd's (then) god-like genius. He writes, sings, plays and produces just about everything. (The exception being side 4 of the original double LP, where he's helped out by guest singers and musicians.)

So special that you will want to share it with the love of your life. (I did, but she still didn't hang around. Where are you, Pamela?) There's hardly a duff song in there. Trust me! However, i won't go ... Read More:

'Hyperborea' was the last album that Tangerine Dream made on the Virgin label, after a near ten year association and to be fair, lots of success.
The decision not to renew the contract must have given messrs Froese, Franke and Schmoelling a real boot up the jacksey musically, and creatively, because 'Hyperborea' is, in my opinion, the best record that this line up made for Virgin.
Opening track 'No Mans Land' is an unusual number with an Eastern flavour and a decent rhythm, it just gets a touch repetitive towards the end but kicks things off rather well.

John Peel and his Radio 1 show must take the credit for introducing me and countless others to the unique and wonderfully surreal world of poet, singer, songwriter and storyteller Ivor Cutler. It's taken me a long time to get round to hearing this album which is now one of my favourite Ivor Cutler records.
These dark and hilarious tales of a dour and repressed Scottish family must have had their roots in Ivor Cutler's Scottish/Jewish upbringing in the bleak environment of 1920/30s Glasgow.

The Duke of Plaza-Toro's instruction to the heirs to the throne of Barataria to preserve a demeanor "still sufficiently dignified" answers a criticism levelled at this series of Savoy Operas recorded under the direction of Sir Malcolm Sargent. Lacking dialogue, and using major British singers who never actually performed on stage in Gilbert and Sullivan, the presentation, especially of the first two of the series to appear, was considered too sedate. A great improvement was made when veteran singer George Baker was invited to participate in the remainder of the series. Bought after hearing the track Common People on You Tube and to be quite honest expecting a dire experience- how wrong could we be.
Refreshing, amusing well arranged and written - a triumph for Shatner and co - very very well done. I wish it every success.

from the opening bars of "i feel love" you know how good this cd will be! after 8 minutes of this you go into "with your love" an unknown track but its wonderful..only available on this cd! as dance hypnotic as the predecessor! then you have"last dance" a summer classic in its 12" glory!!! amazing!!! jumping straight into the macauthur park suite.."yes we know someone left a cake out" but the 18 minute frenzy that encapsulates "one of a kind" and "heaven knows"..its a bit too much!

then into the 12" versions of "hot stuff" and "walk away"!!! if exstatic hasnt set in by now...you get "dim all the lights"...and to finish you off the full lenght versions of "tears are not enough" is a show stopper!

if you only buy 1 donna summer album...buy this one!

Small Corners

Decided to buy the CD of "Small Corners" as only had on vinyl, so hadn't listened to it in ages. It is still one of the best gospel albums Cliff has produced and what a variety too! "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross" is, in my opinion, one of the best versions of this hymn. At such a low price, too, well worth buying.
