This isn't a Dylan album. It might seem obvious, but I don't think the previous reviewer realised this fact. It is an album of incredible performances from legendary performers from the last 30 years distilled into a single remarkable evening.
From time to time there are songs that become bigger than their original being. Dylan has produced many of these and they're collected here with renditions from Dylan's contemporaries. If you believe that all music is linked then you must listen to this recording.

Want to get away from the frenetic "Eric is God" entrapment????? Then join Delaney & Bonnies backing band, which is what Clapton did in this Southern Rock/Soul good time rocking band. This really has stood the test of time really well and considering the time it was recorded (1971 I think) its really unindulgent.Delaney Bramlett was an old friend of Duanne Allman so I think thats how they wee aquainted through Derek & the Dominoes. Great to listen to in the car!

Judging by the lack of other reviews I'm in a minority in thinking this is one of late period Cale's better efforts. From the stoned humour of Days Go By to the urban paranoia of This Town there's plenty of good music to get excited about. Try Death in the Wilderness for the arrangement and guitar playing for starters or Lowdown for some typical Cale style relaxed shuffle. This is as near as it gets to a Cale solo album. While it won't win many new converts it's a good answer to those who say he's just been repeating himself for the past thirty odd years.

This cd is one of Mahal's better works. It contains his own works as well as blues standards,my favourites being Stagger Lee and Candy Man.The line up is the same as the debut album which I also recomend,Taj Mahal. His later work I found hit and miss. So go ahead and buy

This is searing hot, blistering rock blues from perhaps the greatest guitarist playing this type of music in the world today. It is relentless high energy though never samey or tiring, it will have you rocking from beginning to end. Highly recommended. Buy it if you don't have it and listen to how the guitar can be but is rarely heard to be played. GREAT STUFF!!!

Forget "value for money" and buy this album for its first two, quite superb tracks: "The Healer" - one of the most distinctive and atmospheric records ever made, featuring marvellously controlled & quite electrifying interactions between Hooker's deep chanting vocals, Carlos Santana's soaring guitar breaks and their wonderfully tight latin/blues backing band - and, "I'm in the Mood for Love" - an equally electrifying, broodingly erotic interaction between a very old man and a much younger lady (Bonnie Raitt) whose shared love of the blues makes the tension of their implausible combination permeate every bar of its vocal & guitar cross-talk. Breath-taking stuff !
As for the rest ?... a set of fairly standard blues work-outs with contributions ... Read More:

This is a truely great album. Sure it doesn't have the fire of Southern Man (Neil Young) or Don't Turn Me Away (The late and great Roy Buchanon)but these songs stick with you so you can't let go. I first heard this album nearly twenty years ago when I knew nothing about the bllues and I still listen to it at least once a month. "At Last" and "Laugh Out Loud" are the highlights and I recommend that anyone who likes the blues or even just good middle of the road music really should buy this album.
Release Date February 26, 2008
The master guitarist returned to what I feel is his best genre on this album, the blues - and nobody plays it quite like Gary. I'm appreciating these blues albums of Gary's more and more of late, other forms of music just don't seem to hit the spot. Keep 'em coming! I'd love one album and a tour every year...
