I can't stress how highly I rate Ian Siegal even without the band and Matt Schofield is no mean guitarist !
This is a must for anybody - even those who've already bought the "Meat and Potatoes" CD, the band's set at the North Sea Jazz Festival is simply one of the best live performances I've seen including the likes of BB, Eric, Jules etc.

. . . at least one Georgie Fame album, that is. Georgie is responsible for giving the world what is arguably the finest horn riff of all on Get Away - just five notes, but, oh, what notes. This excellent value CD is a must - it's got most of his hits, and the other tracks are all standards which Fame interprets in his own accomplished way with character and empathy. And it's also a great demonstration of why the pop music of the sixties was so brilliant - an era when artists of Georgie's calibre were taking their inspiration from jazz and blues and, in turn, inspiring so many others. I love it. The price of this Fame album is ludicrously cheap and there's really very little excuse for not including it in your collection.

This GREAT "CANNED HEAT" CD starts with the 7 MINUTE & 5 seconds demo of "ON THE ROAD AGAIN" recorded on 17th & 18th April 1967 a year & half before the later version was in the charts worldwide.
"NINE BELOW ZERO" & "TV MAMA" Also from 17th & 18th April 1967 showing "Alan Blind Owl Wilson" talents in many ways but mainly Harmonica it's that good "Bob The Bear Hite" says "Do it again"

I wondered to myself "How can Sonny Landreth possibly equal the resounding success of South of I-10?" but I needn't have worried. Levee Town consolidates his status as the supreme slide guitarist working today but also builds on and develops his quite considerable songwriting abilities. Many have spoken of the weakness of his vocals but his voice perfectly compliments the instrumental prowess and indeed, sets it off nicely.

The tracks are beautifully worked and none more so than album highlights such as Deep South, Love and Glory, The USS Zydecoldsmobile and Broken Hearted Road though there is not a weak track among them. I've often said that "stadium rock" crap of the mid 70's spawned punk rock. I'd like to think it also spawned "pub rock", a U.K. mid 70's phenomena that incorporated a low rent, no nonsense gang of r&b loving musos who played in pubs to smaller audiences. Superb album, some great songs and god knows how many moments that send a real chill down the spine. Also has some of Clapton's best playing including a fantastic Les Paul sound, which became the "woman tone" that has influenced who knows how many people. Great songs, great playing, great voices - a genuine, complete classic.

Grasshopper finds JJ moving into a slightly different phase, it still has all the mellow traits of the previous albums but stylisticly it ranges from his usual laid back style " City Girls " to raw rock tunes "One step ahead of the blues" and also the soulful ballad "You keep me hanging on ". A solid record through and through, highly recommended listening.

Want to get away from the frenetic "Eric is God" entrapment????? Then join Delaney & Bonnies backing band, which is what Clapton did in this Southern Rock/Soul good time rocking band. This really has stood the test of time really well and considering the time it was recorded (1971 I think) its really unindulgent.Delaney Bramlett was an old friend of Duanne Allman so I think thats how they wee aquainted through Derek & the Dominoes. Great to listen to in the car!
