Well as anybody must know by now, GM loves Greeny, and you can tell from listening to this disc that he has poured his heart and soul into his playing. Fantastic, much better than his heavier metal playing of earlier years. Can't recommend this one enough.
Release Date September 02, 1995
I was sad to hear of Jeff Healeys death recently. I remember going to see him live in the late 1980's and was hooked immediately. his energetic and unusual style was engrossing, and when he launched into 'see the light' which features on this album, it blew everyone away. I think this debut album remains his best work. I was looking forward to seeing him in London In April, promoting his new album which is a return to blues after his Jazz work of more recent years, but it is not to be. I hope the new album serves as a fittng epitaph.

I hadnt until recently heard of Kenny Wayne Sheppard, but I am pleased to have found him.
This CD and DVD is one of the best tributes to the great Blues Artists of our time. If you dont buy any other Blues CD this year make sure you DO BUY THIS ONE. Fantastic.

There are those acts that do their best work in the studio but are pretty dull live and there are those who are in their element in intimate live venues. GT is a perfect example of the latter. IMO his studio albums are pretty so-so as the tunes are all quite similar as the instrumentation is fairly basic and the production quite flat. The live recordings, of which this is marginally the best, are another kettle of fish. With 'Live' you get to feel the vibe of the gig. The energy just pours out from start to finish and the versions of the one dimensional studio recordings are made meatier, gutsier and much more fun. I've heard scores of live albums and this one is considerably better than many highly rated (and often doctored)live recordings. In fact ... Read More:

Wow, where do I start? How about with....BUY THIS ALBUM NOW!
Yep sounds good to me, Magic Sam, an obscure blues musician, just as his career was about to take off he sadly died, leaving behind two studio albums, West Side Soul, is his debut, it's rooted deeply in Soulful blues, from the very first track 'That's All I need' I found myself hooked, his quivering vocals demanding my attention, the guitar work was on par with his singing.
This truly is an underrated artist and album for that matter. Magic Sam should be raved about in every Country, city and town.
Listening to Sam is like fusing the guitar work of great blues guitarists with the vocals of, say, Sam Cooke---Okay, Okay, maybe Sam Cooke is a little high ... Read More:

The team at Kent continue to make available these gems from the past, some of which would otherwise never by heard by many fans of 60's soul. The tracks popularity, span the years from the early days of soul clubs right up to current favourites. Remarkable because after so many years most are new to cd and are great records. Excellent sleeve notes as usual. Long may it last.

This arrived in the post today - loved it from the moment it started to spin.
The Man is and guest stars are in fine form although some are perhaps past the official sell-by dates they've developed character. Maturity suits the genre very well. A bit of croaking doesn't hurt it at all and some humour, mixes well. Mind you there is nothing too different about this album it treads a well worn B.B King path - and all the better for it in my opinion.
Sweet sweet music - enjoyable kick ass blues. Just buy it, and turn it up.

This was supposedly Bonnie's comeback record after she had been dropped by Warners in the mid-80s, along with similar artists such as Van Morrison. Don Was was brought in as producer and the resulting record was a return to the format of her best Warner's albums, ie a mixture of blues, ballads, folk and rock. Despite good critical response her previous records had never really sold well but 'Nick of Time got great reviews, won Grammies AND sold millions. I think it deserved to (but then again I think many of her previous albums should have) it sounds great, it has some good, commercial songs and Bonnie and her fabulous voice are the centre of everything.
She rocks out on tracks like John Hiatt's wonderful "Thing Called Love", "Real Man" and ... Read More:

I listened to this album first in 1996 at university. It belonged to a friend, but I went straight out and bought it, I liked it that much. Sat about on the grass on campus we, my friends and I, spent many a Summer afternoon doing very little, chilling out to the laid-back music of G. Love & his Special Sauce.
I like the album's catchiness, 'Baby got Sauce' immediately entered into my 'favourite tracks ever' list, but 'Cold Beverage' was the track of the holiday for us all. Lemonade & a double scoop...
I lent this album out and never recieved it back, annoyingly, but recently re-bought it and reacquainted myself with all my old favourites. This album makes me smile from the opening bars. Not just out of nostalgia, but because it is upbeat, ... Read More:
