By far the most commercially viable of all The Offspring releases to date. Album 5 continues (where Ix Nay started) to soften the raw sound of Dexter Holland's voice and Kevin Wasserman's Guitars, and while Holland's voice is still slightly ear grating, and very prominent in the mix, Americana is a departure from their rough furious jagged punk days.
Americana is also the first Offspring record that is geared towards singles, featuring a slew of radio friendly hits of the likes of "Pretty fly (for a white guy)", "The kids aren't alright" and "Why don't you get a job?", that will take anyone like me (who got into music through the Green Day / Sun 41 punk rock revival in the late 90s and early 00s) right back to those days. I'm afraid this is not Green Day's best album and will split many Green Day fans down the middle. It's certainly more 'Radio friendly' and different from the other Green Day albums, but it's not heavy enough IMO. My favourite track is 'Minority' which is what Green Day's music WAS always about!

'Take off Your Pants and Jacket' was the first album when Blink started to write more mature songs. Earlier albums were more for humour and had funny songs. This album has those, and is still classic Blink 182, but shows a more mature side to the boys. In my opinion, this is a good thing, as they have come out with their best album. Tracks:
'Anthem Part 2': Good opener to the album. A classic Blink song with humour and a great one to sing along to. 4/5
'Online Songs': Another sorn with 'Josie' in it. Great song. Quick and to the point, its funny but slightly serious at the same time. 4/5
'First Date': Classic Blink track. Funny but you can hear how true it is aswell. One of Blink's best songs. 5/5

This album is kick arse. Using more of their metal influence then punk, this is darker then their other albums. I love all the album. Songs like The Bitter End & No Reason Metallica fans will notice straight away that it sounds abit like their song battery. This will apeal to fans of Rock, Punk & Metal. Filled with good riffs, solos. The lyrics have good meaning, Derek is a great vocalist and dave is a wicked guitarist. I am quite dissapointed with their new album, but their first 3 albums will be fine for me. Dave come back to Sum 41 you are needed.

I bought this because I love the music, being advertised as b-sides and rarities sings out this is a load of old stuff put on an album to make a bit of extra cash, not the case, an excellent collection of tracks mixed together in what appears to be comedic stylie! Top stuff and Ha ha your dead finishes it with style!

This album was the 3rd album from the offspring. Ignition was great but didn't get as popular. But as soon as the videos for 'Come Out and Play(Keep 'Em Seperated)' 'Self Esteem' and 'Gotta Get Away' were released they hit big time.
Then Ixnay was amazing. The First 4 Albums were the best and i can't choose between them.
I love the later albums too but they could have done so much better on Conspiracy Of One. Which if i had to choose would be my worst album.
But anything by the offspring is first class and i love them all.

How do you follow up a million selling album? This is a question that many bands have to ask themselves once they make it big - Green Day had followed two independent albums with Dookie, a multi-platinum monster and a show-stealing appearance at Woodstock 1994. A lesser band would mess around for a few years, add an orchestra and release a bloated, rubbish follow-up.
Green Day went the opposite route - perhaps stinging from some hardcore fans' accusations of selling out, within a year of Dookie, the band recorded and released Insomniac, an altogether darker, nastier album. There were no 'Basket Cases' here, considerably less of the toilet humour - instead we have songs about being neurotic, drug use and alternative lifestyles. 'Geek Steek Breath' is about ... Since forming out of the ashes of Operation Ivy in 1991, Rancid has risen from a local ska punk group on the Gillman Street scene to one of the most recognizable groups alongside fellow groups like Green Day and The Offspring.
Let's Go is the second record to be released and marks the first recording as a four piece with ex UK-Sub Lars Frederickson. It suprising to hear the differences between Let's Go and the follow-up And Out Come The Wolves... as this sounds much more rawer and energetic.
Each track either lasts under or just over the two minute mark, with only a few nearly reaching the three minute point. At 23 tracks in total, this is more of an album that sounds breathtaking when its listened from start to finish. There are however ... Read More:

Sum 41 were the first ever band i got into there an amazing band this album is really good best tracks The Hell Song, Perfection (is my deriction), Still Waiting, No Brains, All Messed Up & Mr Amsterdam. This is a brilliant place start getting into sum 41 they are an amazing band, but ever since Dave(their guitarist) left they havn't been as good being too much like Blink 182 which really annoys me cause they were original. I recommend this to Rock/Punk/Metal fans it's amazing.
