This is The Ataris first for Columbia, and its a really good effort. Previously they put 3 albums out on Kung Fu and an EP on Fat Wreck Chords. All 4 releases were amazing but the middle full length, Blue Skies, was my favourite. I'd read that the band thought this release was a bit of a return to the style of that album with a little more of a recent Foo Fighters/Jimmy Eat World feel to it so I was very excited about this release. It doesn't quite fit that description but it is an amazing release, elements of straight forward rock are present, especially when compared to older ataris songs but its still definitely their record. The great change is in the maturity of the songwriting. Opener So Long, Astoria lifts its chorus from an idea in the ... Read More:

This is the classic Strung Out album. Strung Out are great musicians. This is evident on this release - Jordan's almost unimaginable drumming, Jake,Rob and Jim's complicated and beautifully harmonic guitar riffage tuned down a step to let Jason pump out his high-pitched but aggressive vocals. Theres a bit of metal thrown in for good measure - Pantera and Slayer being pretty big influences. This CD is a must have if you enjoy that melodic South-Cali punk sound.

Millencolin have been making catchy music for about 10 years now, and this is just a collection of early stuff, covers and b-sides! Its all still good though! Its possibly the worst album Millencolin have come out with, but its still, a good listen.

Dropkick Murphy fans have always been a very special group of people. At a live performance you don't only experience a unique atmosphere but have feelings pride run through your body, pride at being present at this gathering of friends that is a Dropkick Murphys show. NO song sums up the band better than boys at the docks, every fan knows every word to this song and the sound of the opening bars brings a smile to your face and a shiver down the spine. And this is the EP dedicated to that song. Despite this do not under estimate the other five songs on this EP. Perticular note should be taken 'streets of Boston' and 'Eurotrash'. A word of warning however should be added, this band is a rough and ready organisation and is not for the emo-loving ... Read More:

NOFX for me are a take it or leave it sort of punk band. Most of the NOFX albums I have (about 5 at last count) have some interesting stuff on them but I find them patchy. Often they are let down by having lyrics that are far too juvenile (pump up the valuum is most definitely in this category) or simply end up with tracks sounding too much the same.
This ep however is a different kettle of fish - an 18 minute+ track which has a lot of variation in it and keeps your attention all the way through. There is nothing harsh here - it is all melodic - and although I haven't bothered to sit and think through the lyrics there is none of the immediate inanity that characterises some of their other work.

Although i only bought this for the two extra tracks American Idiot is still one of the best rock songs ever. It's fast upbeat guitar and drums are brilliant and the lyrics are just as good.
The two extra tracks now nearly complete my green day collection. Those were the only reason i wanted this CD and i wasn't expecting anything too great but i was greatly suprised at how fantastic they both are.
Shoplifter really does show the transaction between Warning and American Idiot. Its rhythm sounds like it should be on warning but the lyrics sound American Idiot style.
Governator is just as good. it obviously is having a go at Arnie with the lyrics 'Ill be back'.
All three track are as good as each other.

This is an absolutely superb album, packed with the kind of catchy and witty songs that afficionados of the American Hardcore scene have come to expect from this band. If you're into energetic guitar music and like to sing along, this is an essential purchase. "Please Play This Song On The Radio" says all that needs to be said about current chart acts, but in a song that none of them could ever hope to write, let alone carry off. If you're a fan of Bad Religion or early Offspring, you'll know all about this band. If you're not, you should give them a go - there'll almost certainly be several songs you like and a couple you absolutely love.
