In 2001 Blink released what was their final immature album in 'Take off your pants and jacket'. Then a year later Tom decided that he wanted to write something meaningful, something emotional and something definitely not Blink 182. It is a good job that Tom changed his writing style and wrote this because this may have been the start of the process towards AVA. The emotional and meaningful aspect is evident throughout Blink's final, self-titled album which is a better album than this one. I do think though that up to this point Boxcar racer beats any of the previous Blink material with no problem. Tom has found a more stripped down, indie sound to convey a meaningful attitude. Rancid

I'm not a big punk fan but this album gets played over and over again. It's fast, exciting, tuneful punk which easily gets you hooked.

At the risk of contradicting myself, there's some really simple punk themes - loud fast guitars and simple vocal techniques. The lyrics are really literate and insightful, and there's a lot of skill in the playing.

Loads of short tracks, an obvious single (Radio Havana) and some tracks you want to play again and again. 'Black Derby Jacket' is the sort of track anyone would be proud of and demands to be listened to over and over again.

I think you've just discovered the definitive punk album.

Kerplunk

This is by far green day's best album, i love everything they have ever done, including the stuff under the guise of The Network, but this is their best album. i have a 20MB ipod that has the memory to hold 10,000 songs and i have this album on repeat!!!! Its a must to any green day fan.

I gotta say i think its taken me at least 3 years to finally get into this album but now i have you start to realise what its actually all about and to Rancid i give my respect.

This album is for the people they have grown up with through life and a tribute to alotta people. The opening track as you all know goes out to the living legend joe strummer (R.I.P). As for the others you gotta listen to the words to be able to realise the true greatness of this album Red Hot Moon, Tropical London, Fall Back Down, Otherside another great track dedicated to Lars brother Robert. To me this is an all inspiring album because you know theres alotta feeling gone in to it all great backing vocals and some awesome guitar riffs.

Shenanigans

I bought this because I love the music, being advertised as b-sides and rarities sings out this is a load of old stuff put on an album to make a bit of extra cash, not the case, an excellent collection of tracks mixed together in what appears to be comedic stylie! Top stuff and Ha ha your dead finishes it with style!

United By Fate: UK Special Edition

Well.....as I like Quicksand I knew I was going to love this, Walter Schreifels next band project. I aint too sure if Rival Schools did another album after this debut or not but to get to the point, Walter Schreifels has this infectious voice, it's difficult to explain as it's so different to anyone else's. The songs are catchy, infectious, emo punk hardcore rock...that's how I can only describe it. If you have heard anything by Schreifels former band Quicksand you will love this, great stuff.

Some excellent covers, with the Gimmes as usual making songs their own, as only they seem to be able to convingly do. Not quite up to the five star Blowin in the wind or Take a break due to one or two slightly ropey tracks, namely uptown girl and leaving on a jetplane, but even they are still better than most bands doing covers, Otherwise superb punky fun

This album is kick arse. Using more of their metal influence then punk, this is darker then their other albums. I love all the album. Songs like The Bitter End & No Reason Metallica fans will notice straight away that it sounds abit like their song battery. This will apeal to fans of Rock, Punk & Metal. Filled with good riffs, solos. The lyrics have good meaning, Derek is a great vocalist and dave is a wicked guitarist. I am quite dissapointed with their new album, but their first 3 albums will be fine for me. Dave come back to Sum 41 you are needed.

This album is just brilliant! Being a big fan of Me First for a long time I have long awaited this new release and I wasn't disapointed! It is great! There are some ace covers to songs such as "I believe I can fly" adn "End of the Road". My personal favourite is the cover of "nothing compares".
If you like punk or want a good introduction to it then this album is a must have. And any fans of Me First should not hesitate to get this album as in my opinion, it is their best!!

Ixnay On The Hombre

The offspring's third album after 'ignition' and the (no pun intended) smash-hit 'Smash'. This time produced by the producer of Jane's addiction, tracks often seem to have some jane's addiction influence, but when you listen to the entire album it is still undeniably offspring style. Having bought this album after i bought the 'greatest hits' collection, I found that several tracks were unbelievably catchy and some songs had more mature themes; 'Gone Away' in particular.

This is my rating of the songs

01 Disclaimer 9/10 possibly the best intro to a punk album ever. Very funny.
02 The Meaning of Life 8/10 Good song, good riffs.
03 Mota 9/10 I love this song, the opening riff and 'MOTA' is awesum.
