Propagandhi go hardcore! And all the better for it. Propagandhi were always top-notch musicians with high-speed guitar pyrotechnics all over the place, but on all their previous records the whiney, nasal, NOFX-style vocals were really irritating. Now they've dropped the whine and are, hence, a really good band. So buy this record if you like high-speed, hardcore-style punk without the pop-punk whine!
They're still a bit 'preachy' and less motivational than the more "posi" hardcore bands like Strike Anywhere, but if you're gonna be preached and shouted at, it might as well be in an enjoyable way... So there you go. It's a bit like being told off for half an hour but by someone playing excellent guitar as they do it.

I bought this album on a bit of a whim, havin read a lot about how good they are but not actually havin heard anything from them. WOW, im amazed! its not just that they are good, there are a million bands in the genre that are competent musicians, but this is quality. they sound SO different from what i expected and i cant think of any other band to liken them to. their sound is highly ORIGINAL which is a difficult thing to do these days. it is the kind of thing that will set them apart from other bands who will come along and then dissapppear, im sure theyre gonna be around a long while. i cant wait to buy infiltrate destroy rebuild now. i only wish id discovered them earlier!

Having listened to all of their previous albums, this one shows a lot more maturity, both in writing and performing. The lyrics are catchy, infectious, irrerevant and a whole lot of fun! The backing music is a non-stop, high energy mix of thrash guitar and thumping drums.
In contrast to their previous albums, the songs are getting longer, approaching that magic three minute mark. Again, this marks their growing abilities.
Definitely one of the best albums I've heard this year. Constantly listening to this one and it never fails to bring a smile to my face.
The Donnas are definitely the Girl Power band for the new millenium! Think Spice Girls with a bad attitude!

Sick Of It All ARE hardcore, they are the sound that every vest wearing tattooed New York-a-be wants to be, period. One of the other reviews mentions that this 'is probably the least accomplised' S.O.I.A album, well, it pre-dates 'Call To Arms' and 'Yours Truly' by the best part of a decade and was the album that re-ignited the N.Y.H.C. sound to it's very best. The title track, 'No Cure' & 'Maladjusted' are bonafide classics, and that's before I even mention 'Step Down'. Yeah, buy 'Call To Arms' (another 5* outing) and 'Yours Truly' (a solid 4*), in fact buy the whole S.O.I.A back catalogue, but this is the album that defined a band and a genre.

this is the sixth nofx album and possibly the best, what you get is thirteen songs that slay and dazzle in terms of punk rock utter enjoyment, heavy petting zoo is an album that refuses to take itself seriously but still delivers messages in between all the crazy and warped lyrics and themes of the songs.
all of the songs clock in at under four minutes so every second is pure gold, all of the songs are enjoyable but special mention can fall at the feet of songs such as freedom like a shopping cart, bleeding heart disease, liza, whats the matter with kids today?,whatever didi wants and drop the world,in truth they are all good,if you like to rock with a smile splattered all over your face then this album will do the trick

In my opinion this is by far one of the greatest punk rock albums of all time!!!! For me this album is on par with insomniac as there greatest album with kerplunk comming a close second. Originally this album was called 39/smooth and only had ten songs on it (by the way the original is only available on vinyl). Recorded over christmas 89 and new year 90 when billy joe, mike and john keifmeyer(the original drummer) were still in high school. This is an amazing album considering it was written by 3 high school kids!!!
This album is a compilation of the LP 39/smooth, thier first ever recording the EP 1000 hours, their second EP Slappy and the final song on this compilation is a song off the early 90's compilation The Big One. All in all its 19 amazing tracks ... Read More:

It is clear that NOFX are not a serious band they are just having fun which is what i like about them. This CD has some very catchy songs on it and deserves 4 stars for the opening trck, whats the matter with parents today, Dinosaurs will die, thank god its monday, and the last song and also for the wicked gutiar solos on some of the songs. But it is let down buy the over the top humour, on thier other albums they have a few silly and funny songs but on this one they have gone over the top, 'My Vagina and louise are sick but catchy but i wouldnt go around singing it, and the rest are mainly about drugs which gets boring. Also thier are not really meaningful songs like the other albums such as 'Falling in love'(So long..) or Drop the world (heavy petting zoo) etc. My advice ... I got this CD when I was in school and I still listen to it now and then! Really thats all that needs to be said, some great tracks, the highly underated Hopeless Housewive and Don't Sell Me Short are fantastic and most the songs are good. It's got a softer BR feel but then sometimes thats what you want... so great stuff!
Don't expect any moshpit classics and you wont be dissapointed!
