There are 3 re-mix albums of Morricone available. All of them futile. This is probably the best. Let's not have any doubts, Morricone is considered to be one of the most important composers of the 20th Century. Morricone's catologue is so vast and ever changing that it seems almost criminal for 14 artists to create a boring piece of work. When this works for me is when Morricone's work is not sacrificed to a loop or same old beat you've heard a hundred times before. Stand outs then: International Pony, Raw Deal, Hird, Kid Sundance

I am currently in my first year at university and rapidly approaching exams....I was looking for a calming, relaxing sound to help me focus and stay positive - this did the trick! I am new to classical music so I wanted somethng that would be soothing and not too dramatic - admittidly some of the tracks are quite lively, but this provides a contrast to the more chilled tracks. You may also recognise some of the pieces from the big screen (Harry Potter/Lord of the Rings...), adverts and tv programmes - at last that tune that was stuck in your head can be granted full appreciation. This has been a great investment for me and has sparked my new interest in the classical genre. It's well worth playing after a night on the town when you're still ... Read More:

There's absolutely no doubting the quality of the music on offer here. The previous reviewer is absolutely right in talking about the eclectic nature of this compilation, which is a fitting tribute to Morricone's musical diversity. Morricone On The Brain is a little too long for me, however. The first seven or so tracks are fabulous and the album then drifts a little in the middle before picking up again at around track 16. I think that if the album had been slightly shorter and the tracks rearranged so that it doesn't peak too soon, M' On The Brain would make for a more satisfying listen. The Mondo Morricone compilations appear to be more readily available recently and I would recommend that you start with these first.
