I must say i did'nt expect much of this soundtrack because i have saw the movie a while ago and didn't have patience to watch the whole movie because it was so boring. And i don't remember there to be much music either. But surprise, this is a fine work from Morricone. Reagan's theme reminds of the old Morricone's italo-stuff and there's some real cool creapy horror stuff also. And of course the psycho-psychedelia-horror-Goblin/King crimson style rock piece "Magic and ecstacy" wich just blows your mind out!! Only 35-minutes long but it's worth the price.

The first disc of this double set contains the soundtracks for A Gun For Ringo and The Return Of Ringo, which both date from the mid 60's when Morricone was working on A Fistful Of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More and The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. The similarities are obvious, although to my ears, Morricone went for a slightly more conventional (or is it just stereotyped) Mexican sound on most of the tracks. In fact one or two of them would not sound out of place in Elmer Bernstein's Magnificent Seven soundtrack. One track in particular ("Heroic Mexico") has had me superglueing the repeat button into the 'on' position, and I've nearly crashed the car twice clapping along to its infectious rhythms. An ideal pick-me-up for a rainy February ... Read More:

If you thought 'Gabriel's Oboe' from The Mission was good (I thought it was okay but it didn't make me cry), then try these tracks from this album:
4. The Abandoned Village
8. Introduction to the Psychiatrist
15. Introduction to the Psychiatrist
These three versions of the same song will haunt me for the rest of my life, whenever I hear them. If you've ever known true love, these songs will take you back to those wonderful times; summer evenings, the longing, the wonder of being alive and of being loved.
