This CD is a collection of classic love songs recorded by Wonder....some of which have been written himself, with a few tracks from other artistes thrown in for good measure, from the haunting self-written Never Dreamed You'd Leave In Summer, to the brilliant cover version of We Can Work It Out, the only version I actually think is better than the Beatles'!!! The harmonica solo of the title track from the film Alfie is also awesome & the whole CD shows off Wonder's musical, vocal & songwriting talents to their very best advantage. A must in your collection if you're an ardent Stevie Wonder fan!!

Yes, the other review is right inasmuch as Masterpiece has been cut to shreds whereas the completely dispensible A Song For You remains almost at full length. There was plenty of room for Motown to put both albums in their entirety on one 80-minute CD. Failing that, a double CD costing a little extra. But, the pairing of these two albums defies any logic. Far superior to A Song for You are 1990 and Wings of Love, no doubt festering away in Motown's vaults - they are sitting on gold and don't know it. Anyway, Masterpiece is one of those extraordinary albums that deserves a deluxe treatment all its own. Don't buy this travesty.

Chris Clark had just 2 singles issued here and 2 albums. In the States she never troubled a chart.
At the same time as her first single I want to go back there again came one by the backing singers a couple of ex cabaret singers called the Lewis Sisters. You need me is for me Tamla Motown's finest hour.
Chris Clark was not the first white girl-that was ex Hot Boppin' Girl DEBBIE DEAN (Debbie Stevens)who cut singles for the label as far back as 1961.Its more difficult to find her stuff.
The next white girl was KIKI DEE who was possibly TM's first non American signing.
This came at a time-1968-when Motown music was becoming very boring and was to reach its nadir with the Jackson Five.

Ignore previous review by myself which was for the Detroit spinners.
A remastered collection from one of Motown’s unsung heroes.
The CD covers their work from 1966 with the brilliant unreleased Holland Dozier Holland composition Suspicion, and all the hits starting with their first Baby I’m For Real to the 70s disco hit Down to Love Town.
The album has a 70’s feel, with six of the tracks having being written and produced by Marvin Gaye, so these tracks have his early sound, other contributors include Steve Wonder, Lamont Dozier, Berry Gordy, Frank Wilson and Johnny Bristol. So the writing and production teams are of the highest calibre.
A slice of Motown history highly recommended 4 stars.
