Meet The Temptations and The Temptations Sing Smokey were the first two albums to be released by the Temptations, and were released in April 1964 and February 1965 (both 1965 in the UK). Their first single as the Temptations had come out on Motown's Miracle label in 1961, but their first Top Twenty hit had been seventh single The Way You Do The Things You Do/Just Let Me Know early in 1964, presumably triggering the putting together of Meet The Temptations.
Meet The Temptations was entirely assembled from their previous singles. The earliest included was their second single for Miracle, Check Yourself/Your Wonderful Love back in 1961. Also included is third single Dream Come True/Isn't She Pretty (the first release on the new Gordy ... Read More:

Love this CD . Pleased to see You're All I need To Get By . I love to hear her singing that so much . It makes me happy just listening to it and it compells you to sing along . In The Ones You Love is a great new song and she sounds so good on it .A cover of You Are Not Alone was a major surprise and I was dubious at first because the original was so good . She has made an excellent job of it though .

This was Stevie's biggest selling album - peaking at number two in the
album chart back in 1981, and opens with a great track that is lively, and melts beautifully into the lovely hypnotic disco/ballad: 'All I Do'.
Four massive hits on this; four top twenty singles - including no less than three top 3's! One of these having the very 'unoriginal' title of several hits out at about that time for some reason: 'Happy Birthday'. There's also a beautifully haunting song on this called 'Rocket Love', but this album will be remembered best for producing more chart hits for Stevie than any other in his career.
Stevie Wonder frustratingly would do very few 12" singles, but his style of music would often have been ... Read More:

Although I had many of these trax. on vinyl this CD is absolutely emotionally overwhelming.
'You Must Be Love' is Smokey at his most ethereal. His take on Little Anthony's ''Outside Looking In'' sees his voice in the stratosphere, but the discovery for me was one I'd not heard before or overlooked ''Just Losing You''.From the opening jangly guitar to the introduction of Smokey's yearning, lost love voice, and the pleading poetic lyrics this is a hidden treasure.
Unreservedly recommended to all Smokey/Miracles admirers.

Although Marvin Gaye rebelled against the production line sound of Tamla and ultimately broke the mould with his self-produced What's Going On, one could never detect any antipathy from the consummate performances he gave on everything he recorded from the moment he signed to the label in 1961, seeing himself as the new Black Sinatra, and much as I admire his later work, for me it is the recordings he made in the sixties that include some of the best records that Motown would put out.
This CD comprises two of the finest of his early albums, That Stubborn Kinda' Fellow, his second album, from 1963, and How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You, from 1965, his fifth solo album. Both are beautifully mastered from the original tapes and come in an attractive ... Read More:

Cream of the Crop well where do i start, the case still gets on my wick, cheap bit of old card and the booklet is not worth putting in all that part is bad and i hope they stop doing this. the album of course you can not say a bad word about it, from SOMEDAY WE'LL BE TOGETHER, HEY JUDE, BLOWIN IN THE WIND plus more are just stunning, all are sung so well and the girls or of course diana is on form,we do know that the supremes did not sing on the backing tracks, or a few of them, some girls we dont know did a lot of the work with diana. but it still stands out as a great album to have, please stop the cheap and naff way of the case. enjoy
