The Temptations were one of Motowns hottest and most versatile acts. They began their career as The Primes, singing on street corners in the ghetto areas for blacks in Detroit with Diana Ross And The Supremes (then known as their sister group, The Primettes). After signing to Motown in 1961, they took a seperate road from The Supremes and before long, were pumping out to what would amount too, an endless river of classics.

In early 1964, the dynamic David Ruffin took over as lead vocalist of the group and immediatley gave them their own unique, identifiable sound, much in the way that Diana Ross had with The Supremes. I bought this to get a copy of their most famous fun hits such as ABC, I Want You Back and Rockin Robin and was pleased to find some other great songs that I hadn't heard before, other than the few really famous hits that are on the album though I wouldn't say much else grabs you and it seems that some really good songs from the Jackson 5 such as 'Blame it on The Boogie' have been left out.

Worth purchasing if your into them or just the famous songs otherwise possibly give it a miss. A nice addition to party music collections though.

Strongly recommended.

..oh and check the sound quality. This album is nearly 35 years old and it gives plenty of modern recordings a complete pasting.

Hotter than July, is never really acknowledged, in despite of the achievements that Wonder managed to do with it. The album was the best selling of his career to that point and Dr Martin Luther King Jr was granted a national holiday on 26th January 1986 after his plea in the song "Happy Birthday"

Wonder promotes diversity, peace (Master Jammin'-a tribute to Bob Marley's reggae style); anger ("I ain't gonna stand for it"); politics ("Cash in your hand"), love ("All i do" and "Rocket Love") and influence ("Happy Birthday"- the song now even appears in real birthday cards, despite being written as a tribute to the civic rights work by Dr Martin Luther King Jr.)
