It strikes me how nobody is talking about how awful this record sounds. It is loud, compressed... It seems to have been mixed directly into an mp3 player; the saddest thing of all is that it has some of the better songs Weller has ever written... Someone has to do something with the awful sounding records released today, because nobody seems to notice.

I first heard Gabriella Cilmi when i saw her supporting the Sugababes live and afterwards i went straight out and bought the album and it was excellent. I also saw her on her own tour and she was amazing again. She's a great new talent and deserves to become very very successful especially when you see some of these over-rated singers like Amy (attention seeker) Winehouse and Leona "Yes i can sing but my songs are so dull" Lewis doing well. I bought this special edition even though i already had the original version for the new songs including her cover of Cry Me A River which is better than the original. It's a pity Save The Lies didn't do as well as Sweet About Me when released as a single as i thought it was a classic but this album is loaded with ... Read More:

The Essential Leonard Cohen

This is as fine an introduction to the works of Leonard Cohen as could be imagined. The track list, selected by the man himself, covers almost every period of his recorded output (Cohen is not prolific in the way, say, Bob Dylan is, or Neil Young), but I do feel some truly great stuff has been overlooked, i.e. the hushed, but haunting version of 'Story Of Isaac' from 1973's LIVE SONGS, which is one of the most profound things that anyone has ever written, the great live recordings from FIELD COMMANDER COHEN: Tour Of 1979, which admittedly was not released until after THE ESSENTIAL LEONARD COHEN appeared. Much of the time bands who have gone into hibernation return with albums which are mere shadows of their previous work. This album is the complete opposite and successfully captures the eerie tones which occupy many of their best songs. I simply cannot pick a favourite from an album which oozes style.

I love this album. Ever since i bought it iv been driving my family and friends crazy singing all the catchy songs. As a big busted fan i think it is a very good pop/rock album. I would recommend it to anyone, the jonas brothers are more than just some "disney popcorn" and their songs are very well written. One of the best albums i own!

Let me start by saying that I have never been a fan of any form of dance music: in any way whatsoever!
I saw these guys perform Granite live on Jools Holland, and they blew me away though. I genuinely believed them to be a guitar driven rock band: so to discover that they are D&B is quite a suprise.
That said, I bought this album to find out how good their other stuff was, and it did not disappoint! Thunderous guitar riffs fused with heavy electronica, and synth fed voices create a wall of sound against a backdrop of Metallica style drums.
I invested in their first album "Hold Your Colour" too: and even though this is very much a D&B album, you can clearly discern the direction that their music is going in.

I once saw an interview where Chad Kroeger said he asked fans what made How You Remind Me work. People said the chorus, the catchy riffs etc. So basically that's what the man cares about which disheartens me. I bought The Long Road and I really like Someday, but on every album they make 3 or 4 singles and the rest appears to be just filler, something to pad it out to called it an album. Hopefully Nickelback realise their sell out status and make music for the right reasons, as the album title misleads.
