I've been a fan of The Cure for a long, long time and sadly don't find anything in this album to rescue them from their last appalling effort. While this one may start more promisingly than the last, it soon descends into a mess of overbearing guitar, plodding drums and a complete lack of originality - something I never thought I would say about The Cure. It seems that the band is trying to rediscover the soundscapes of the brilliant Wish album - but saldy I doubt these tracks would even have made it onto b-sides during that period of the band's journey.

What a great album! By far and away their best, before they succumbed to Coldplay-type anthems on Seldom Seen Kid. Every track a winner, but "Very best" is well titled. Enjoy! Anyone that can get Stockport Supporters Club into the lyrics of a ballad is alright by me!!

I have this CD on constant repeat! The music is so varied but holds your attention every step of the way. Bocelli's voice is one you just have to fall in love with. His "Romanza" is 1 of my favourites but "Vivo Per Lei" has me hooked also. GET THIS CD!!!!!!

I bought this album because I really like the track 'Mr Brightside' which is excellent and easily the best thing on the album. Some of the others are ok but I couldn't listen to this from start to finish as it would annoy me intensely. The reason I'm not that fond of it is because I often struggle to see a lot in mainstream pop music generally - it all seems to have either been done before or just doesn't mean anything to me I'm afraid! I appreciate that the band have been immensely successful and I would imagine that if you saw them live it would be a great performance. Not really my kind of thing on a CD though.

Having just heard the CD, I am warmed by the quality of ALL the tracks, the singing is beautiful and sung so professionally.
If you are looking for a traditional Carol CD, then I would definately recommend this one,

I have just got the box set recently, and have been enjoying it greatly. Not just that, my three daughters aged 9, 6 and 2 are great fans, and want to listen to it all the time in the car. And the two-year-old even says 'Rock' once she hears the first few bars of 'We will rock you'. Just goes on to show that Queen truly made ageless music, which still scores far above most contemporary music.

WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW!
Don't know what else to say.
Oh yes. And I was there (though on the Tuesday night).
In years to come, many millions of people will claim they were at this gig (along with Bob Marley at the Lyceum, Hendrix at the Marquee etc) because they would wish so dearly that they were there.
It was THAT good.
Looking forward to the DVD release soon of the same gig. Apparently December or January.

If you're thinking about buying this, chances are you own most of the songs already from the good ol' Jeepster days. But listen up: these are interesting live variations that will make your old sounds utterly new. How about "Stars of track and field" with a twangy bass (?) so slack the strings sound like they're shuffling off to China and back, a less-full-on LLPJ (aka Lazy Jane, sounding a bit like an ice-cream van track in places!), Me and the Major with lovely piano, oh and plenty more surprises. A few classic covers on here too, such as "Here Comes the Sun", "Waiting for the Man", and the "Boys are back in town" (a great track that unfortunately now reminds me of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Joseph wannabees at Saturday tea-time). A few lesser tracks (IMHO: ... Read More:

Like many who have reviewed this CD, I was eagerly anticipating the Gala Ensemble's first release. As something of a Gilbert and Sullivan fan, I thought it was wonderful that a new recording was emerging. I felt encouraged and delighted that Sony had developed this project and could hardly wait to get my hands on a copy.
I wish I'd never bothered. This is by far and away the worst recording - not just of Gilbert and Sullivan but of any music in this genre - that I've had the misfortune to come across in nearly 20 years of fairly hardcore CD collecting. To clarify my position I should say that I've been shopping at Amazon regularly for years now, and have never before been compelled to write a review.

When this album hit the shops Pres.Kennedy had just been assasinated. As no one felt like celebrating-so they say-the album was a total flop and warehouses all over the country had 1000s of returned copies.
Understandably Spector was annoyed after all that work!
Probably the fact that the Singing Nun represented that years Christmas hit!
In 1964 the British Invasion which gave a boost to his career as the Ronettes toured the U K and the man came here to nob with the Stones and his British answer Andrew Loog Oldham who would prove beneficial.
as for the Beatles they would be his Saviour and by the early 70s both Harrison and Lennon had increased his bank balance considerably as well as his ego.Plus the fact that Apple had reissued the Christmas ... Read More:
