I can respect Robert Plant for his work with Led Zeppelin (nearly 40 years ago) and Alison Krauss is a major talent with the Union Station but this just does not work. The production by T Bone Burnett is good but the material is poor and boring. It neither one thing (Rock) nor another (Country/Bluegrass). Having read the reviews beforehand I borrowed this CD from my library prepared for a probable disappointment and it certainly lived up to that.

This is a great song, catchy and ideal for parties. Who cares if you can't quite work out what Alesha's singing, this song has made people take notice of her!

I remember the original hairspray from when I was younger and loved it then and still love it now, even though the songs and characters are different its still amazing! the soundtrack has all the songs from the film that just make you want to be in that groovy era of the 50's/60's. I have the album in my car and can never resist a good old sing along. Definitely a feel good soundtrack to brighten up your day! love it and love Hairspray!

along with Duffy these are my 2 albums of the year. Every track is superb, very classy production and I love the use of horns on a lot of the tracks. Only 2 or 3 sound like Texas, otherwise you get Tamla, Nancy Sinatra and a French sound.I wish there were more songs as the 11 fly by when listening and its under 40 mins long. Do another next year Sharleen!

This could be any reasonably competent male voice choir. I WAS VERY DIASAPPOINTED WITH IT. It did not have the depth and resonance and passion of a 'proper' Welsh male voice choir like Treorchy.
It seems like a sanitised version.
Nowhere near good enough!!!

I'm a longtime fan of Eva Cassidy's wonderful voice and style. I think I have all her albums and those albums provide a lot of the background music for my life. Her all-too-soon death took a marvelous talent from this world.
That said, though, I found this album a bit disappointing. I think that with every now-deceased beloved artist, there exists a file somewhere of recorded songs that were considered for earlier albums and put aside because they weren't quite good enough. Then, when the artist dies, there's a scramble to unearth these items and create an album from them. It doesn't always work: those songs were filed away for good reason.
And while I find this album enjoyable, that seems to be the case here. I don't find ... Read More:

This is a wonderfully varied, superbly sung, reasonably ordered 3 disc compilation of Webber's life's work. The versions are beautiful, there's the `classics' : Sarah Brightman, Jason Donovan etc. But this really does span all the avenues for his creations; Emmy Rossum's version of `Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again' is included from the film version of Phantom and Madonna's `You Must Love Me' from the Evita film. There are also some of the most recent stage versions; Lee Mead and Connie Fisher are both featured, from the popular Any Dream Will Do and How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? Although Connie sings `Make Up My Heart' from Starlight Express. I also very much enjoyed Elvis Presley being included and some other lesser known ones (at least to me).
