I once heard an interview where Noel Gallagher proclaimed that Oasis, in his opinion, were in the top 3 of bands of all time. On this, and several other albums worth of evidence, it is quite clear that they aren't anywhere near the top 3 of Manchester bands! to say this album is a bit 'samey' is a 'massive' understatement! I was going to re-name them status quoasis, but that would be a great insult to status quo! I would advise anyone to borrow this album before buying, I wish I had, i'd be £8.99 better off now!!

This, for me personally is my favourite Coldplay album yet.
I think they're finding their sound, expressing their personality and experimenting on this album making it much more interesting, daring and individual than X&Y and even A rush of Blood.
I like this new, evolving nature in Coldplay, more of the same please!

NB's label have always released their more commercial, softer songs as singles - same as Bon-Jovi for example.
Some people have described (after the first single was released - and before they actually released Dark Horse) NB as selling out.
But as first mentioned, the more commercial and softer tracks have always been released - essentially that's what's made them the huge band they are.
But it's full of hard rocking, well produced, catchy modern pop/rock anthems & one or two fun (Rockstar-esque) or power ballads.
But what an album!
The one thing I would say - and if you're reading this, then you can do it - in this day and age you can be your own reviewer. Check bands song samples out on their ... Read More:

This is a beautiful and relaxing album and I love it. It is perfect for these difficult times. It has a contemprorary feel in the production and the choice of songs is just right. This all goes to make it very appealing listening . Great too that the Salvation Army will raise money to help with all the great work they do and especially in helping the homeless.

I first saw / heard Seasick Steve (Steve Wold) on Jools Holland's 'Later' TV show on the BBC a couple of years ago. I wasn't quite sure what to expect when he appeared on my TV screen. He looked more like a busker than a star in the making, but by the time he had finished his song, I was a fan, along with thousands of others who saw him that night. In short, he blew us all away. He was on the show again recently in order to publicise this new album and guess what, he blew us away again! The star performer.
This album is probably the result of Steve's first appearance on Jools' show and it would seem that Mr Holland has to some degree provided a guiding hand or least support, in it's making...the presence of Ruby Turner (A regular performer with Jools' ... Read More:

Another really great offering from this Welsh Male Voice Choir that compliments the previous two. I thought the mix of "easy listening" and traditional choir pieces really set out the talents of this group. The voices are complimented with some beautiful arrangements and orchestrations to make it 45 minutes of sheer joy.

bought this album on the streangth of hearing the single ( last track on album ) and I have to say how disapointed I was with the reat of the album, only buy this cd if your a fan of the group themselves

Like other reviewers, I find the origins of some of the tracks somewhat puzzling. The JLL track has already been mentioned, but the rendition of "Sleepwalk" is stated as being by The Shadows (who indeed did record it at one time), but the CD track is, in fact, the original Santo and Johnny version (they wrote it, along with their mum.......)
This shows for shoddy, hasty compilation, and although many of the other tracks are truly filled with nostalgia, I wouldn't want to lose a Pub Quiz night thanks to the mistaken listing on a CD track-list !!

The album starts off well with 'Wire to Wire' and then goes very rapidly downhill with 'Hostage of Love'; a song about Jesus in the first person. Oh dear. I actually have to skip this track because it's too cringe-worthy to listen to. David Brent could easily have written this.
The rest of the album ambles along, yet tries to be epic. This is the music of a band caught up in it's own arrogance, but who ran out of ideas for the third album.
It's certainly not a good album, but it's not all terrible either. Compared to 'Up All Night' Razorlight are a shadow of their former selves. What happened?
