I went to see a friend of mine take the role of Jekyll and Hyde at the theatre recently, and cried practically the whole way through the performance! It may have been partly because it was Alec singing, but the songs are all so emotive and powerful, I defy anyone (who has a heart!) not to cry - especially when listening to 'Take Me As I Am', or 'Someone Like You'... beautiful.

At first glance I did not get too excited at the track listing of this new recording. It seemed mainly to be songs that have been recorded a hundred times before, and it almost seemed that I must have old CDs with Elaine Paige singing the same songs. Well, I was wrong. These are all new recordings with Elaine in fine voice.The arrangements are fresh and modern while paying respect to the originals. It really brings musical theatre to the 21st century. If like me you have some doubts, dont hesitate.......buy this cd!.

As an avid fan of the movie I needed no added reason for purchasing this album other than the fact that it said 'Moulin Rouge!' on the cover!

But in all seriousness, this is a worthy follow-up to the first album including pretty much every piece of music from the score that wasn't included therein.

As you would expect, the second album has more instrumental pieces which, while integral to building up the feel of the movie, are probably less well-remembered. Still, there are good songs here such as 'Meet Me In The Red Room', 'The Pitch' and 'The Show Must Go On' - songs that you may have expected to have been on the first album.

A very delightful reissue of this wonderful show, with an extra bonus of selections from The Duenna. I have bought Cds from this label Sepia before and am very impress with its quality and remastering, super sounds and great interesting pictures insert, all in all very good value for ones money for such a budget price, recommanded indeed.

This is a great recording as you get a real flavour of the 'actual' musical- with full versions and some dialogue. The extended "If I Loved You" is good as this is not included on most Carousel recordings. Katrina Murphy as "Carrie Pipperige" is particuarly good, and her version of "Mister Snow" is excellent, as is Joanna Riding's rendition of "What's the use of Wond'rin'." This Rodgers and Hammerstein musical is not as well known as "The Sound of Music" but this is some of their best work- i love "When the children are asleep" especially. I would recommend this cd to anyone who is a fan of the musical, or just enjoys Rodgers and Hammerstein's work.

If you loved the Stage Musical, and loved Tim Burton's Movie Adaption, then there is no question about it. You must have this Album. It is almost every single sung line from the movie, minus (thank God)Timothy Spall's intorduction to the 'Pretty Women' duet sung by Alan Rickman and Johnny Depp. There are some spoken lines on CD as well, such as, 'At last, my arm is complete again,' as well as a line from Alan Rickman. It does not however include the last reprisal of 'Dam that's Good' at the climax of the movie which does give the album a strange ending on 'Nothing's going to harm you.'
