Having seen twice and loved the Lord of the Rings stage show in London buying the soundtrack was the next step.
And I am not disappointed.
This is a superb souvenir and an essential addition to the Lord of the Rings collection for all fans.
The set consists of 2 discs. The first is a cd of the music from the show. The second disc is a DVD with the musical soundtrack and images from the production and rehearsals.
The sturdy card case is in a book form with the story synopsis, lyrics and credits and photo of the show itself.
A must have item.

Having seen the original show with Jonathan Pryce and Lea Salonga, I also saw it a year later when the understudy was playing Kim and was not disappointed. All those years ago I brought my 5 year old up with the soundtrack and always promised her that if it came back to the stage I would take her. Now she is 15 and I was able to keep my promise at the Milton Keynes venue of the current tour and she was absolutely blown away. Jonathan Pryce was fab as the engineer in the original show, and I'm glad I saw him in that part, but the current cast, although doing a variation of the original is certainly not a disappointment. My daughter Hannah is desperate to see it again, with her friends, and the only down side is it is realistically not close ... Read More:

In my record collection, I have an old vinyl LP of the soundtrack of the film Carousel.I never thought the recording was very good, even though I love the songs. However, this new remastered CD is really first class, giving a new feel to the songs, plus extra music not available on the old version. If yiu have fond memories of the film, this is the recording to buy.

Please ignore the Product Description by Amazon.co.uk - it says on there that 'Mean Green Mother from Outer Space' is replaced with 'Don't Feed the Plants', which on this CD it ISN'T!!! 'Mean Green Mother' is on this CD, as this CD is the movie soundtrack, not the Original Broadway soundtrack. If you are looking for the stage soundtrack, this isn't it. It's very good though - love the voice of the Plant, and Rick Moranis is brilliant.

I have to say that my preference would be for the "Original London Cast" recording which is sadly no longer available to the Film Soundtrack version. Although the 'London Cast' album is only a single album and therefore only contains half the songs, the instrumentation seems crisper and tighter and generally speaking, the vocal performances are better. The lovely Dana Gillespie as Mary Magdalene is unbeatable and even Paul Nicholas (yes, he also featured in the original stage recording) puts in a fairly good performance too, though admittedly probably tries a bit too hard to put on a theatrical voice. If you know anybody who has a copy of the original 1972 album (and providing they still have a turntable), listen to "Trial Before Pilate" and compare ... Read More:
Fans of Sarah Brightman have expressed mixed opinions on this `Best Of' release.
Being labeled as a `crossover' artist I think can be a burden, for there are times when he/she will perform opera and classical music but get criticized by the `classical buffs' for trying to step on the toes of their treasured elitist professional musicians of the classical world.
Then there is the criticism from fans of `popular music', who see their idol apparently deserting their pop roots and alienating themselves by joining the orchestral high society club.
So when pop meets classical is there always friction?
No, I don't side with either of these views, for I believe everyone is free to sing anything they like. Whether ... Read More:

This musical is a true joy. I would place it within the 30 best musicals ever made. Some pseudo casting directors, music experts, and nit-picking purists, may disagree. I saw it recently at home with an audience which included all age groups: from a 7 year old, through a 60 year old cousin. They all agreed that they would like to see it again, some other time. To my judgment, the casting is ideal: Kathryn, fits well into the innocent damsel, who is swept off her feet, falling in love with the dashing gambler (Howard Keel). Joe E. Brown is perfect (as he makes believe his domineering wife, that he is hen-pecked) as he does what he wants, saying" yes dear. The opening sequence where we are shown the riverboat, the pier, the musical-traveling troupe, the crew of the ... Read More:

This is one of the most under rated musicals of all, sure there are some songs that i would remove..But i think thats true of most musical these days. People didnt like it cause it didnt have a happy ending, EVEN BETTER!
I wont send roses is a classic but there are others in the album like BIG TIME..and Tap Your Troubles Away, that you dont hear enough off, this should be performed more.
