I bought this a million years ago and it wears really well. Old Sir did himself proud with this jazz-rock come classical feast.
What a band too!
Don Airey and Rod Argent on keys, John Mole on bass, GARY MOORE on guitar, the wonderful Barbara Thompson on sax and woodwind and her powerhouse hubby - Jon Hiseman on drums - fantastic!
Then of course we have Julian Lloyd-Webber on the cool cello.
People remember the theme to South Bank Show but there is much more. Some cool laid back pieces mixed with some roaring, all out fusion sections.
It's all instrumental and an absolute delight.
Get it!!!

I was lucky enough to see Return To The Forbidden Planet around 3 times many years ago and it genuinely was a show that blew me away - the talent of all the performers in the show as they rotated around all the instruments on stage literally performing the role of the orchestra and cast was outstanding. The soundtrack is a collection of very well known rock and roll songs adapted lyrically to fit the shows story - you will know the majority of the songs on this album and it is just sheer good fun to listen to.

Reflections from Broadway

John Barrowman has such a great voice but the quality of the recording does not bring this out unfortunately. I know for a fact that his voice is perfect as I have been to many live performances but this CD did not do him or his voice any justice. Lets just hope his new album Music Music Music will do him justice.

I have to admit I wasn't expecting to enjoy Anything Goes when I went to see it in London a few months back. But not only did I enjoy it but it prompted a return visit the other day, which is when I got a copy of the CD. The tunes are catchy & the cast exceptionally good..not a weak link in the chain. This cast recording captures the spirit of the show. It's a recording which you could enjoy without having seen the show on stage. Well recommended.

I think the title ive chosen to head my review says it all.Xanadu the album(ELOs contributions only)is more of what we've come to expect from the greatest band of all time.The other songs on the album vary in quality between not bad and down right awful.DO NOT!!!! buy this album then think to yourself"He's full of it,these songs are great,im buying the film"cos this atitude will only leave you however many pounds,dollars whatever lighter in the pocket and have taken up 90 minutes of you.re life you'll never get back.so In conclusion get the album,dont follow this up by seeing the movie.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat

I bought this CD after seeing the show. The CD is fab with great performances all round. I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 as Jason Donovan's vocals as Joseph are often very soft and can't be heard clearly over the music, and the "s"'s seem a bit over done, a tad tad slurry. This may not be a reflection of his performance; it may be a production issue with the CD. Either way, it makes his performance seem a bit dumbed-down compared to the others.

The variation in stlye between tracks, and the the fun element which oozes out of each lyric like drool from a laughing nutter help to make this a musical which can be enjoyed by people of all ages. My two year old daughter loves this on in the car, and I look forward to taking her to watch ... Read More:

I have been lucky to appear in this show and it has to be said it is one of the best new musicals around. I also saw it in London and was completly blown away. Rosie Ashe steals the show as Felicia Gabriel. Her rendition of "Evil" is terrific, hilarious and a powerhouse. The show itself is unlike others opening around the same time as there is no weak songs.
A great night out if you ever get the chance to see it.
It was a travesty it closed. Would kill to see another profesional production.
What else can i say .... BUY THIS NOW!
