This is the place to start with the music of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra. It's hard to describe where the music is about; its minimal music with built-in humour and melodies. The feel is acoustic with a few electric guitars and basses thrown-in. There are sounds that nudge towards chamber-music, but there's reggae too. Highlights are the classic Music for a found Harmonium, the dreamy Music for Helicopter Pilots and the sunny In the Back of a Taxi.

What can i say about this album?
It is to me, a perfect piece of work.
Everything i listen to (from Miles Davis to Molotov) is second to this.
Its the soundtrack to the dreams i had as a child, walking down a dirt beach with a rusting windmill falling into the ocean ahead of me.
The opening poem 'Aztec Hotel' is true poetry, as it should be. And if 'Boy about 10' doesn't move you, you've never been in possession of your own soul.
I cant recommend this enough.
Shall i go on....?

I've yet to work out how a man so obsessed with morbidity can manage to go through daily life, let alone make a record as masterful as David Thomas Broughton vs. 7 Hertz just two years later. But it happened, and my world has been a brighter/darker place because of it. So this is where it all started, then, the debut; overarching guitar noise, vocals loops violently spiralling away from even your peripheral vision, unwritten lyrics that delve deep into so many thoughts that never should be thought: death, cannibalism, broken loves, rape - funereal folk of the high order. Yes, this is David Thomas Broughton. Assuming he survives long enough, he could be the unsung, unheralded genius figure of this decade. Except we are not ready, I feel.

Buy this CD, lock yourself in a quiet place and down a bottle of wine and you will be "chilled" to horizontal proportions!

Mannheim Steamroller is the brainchild of Chip Davis, and is a fusion of classic music with high-tech pop. Mannheim Steamroller burst on the scene in 1974, with their Fresh Aire album. This album came out in 1984, and is without a doubt the greatest of their great Christmas albums. Having such classics as Stille Nacht (Silent Night) and Good King Wenceslas, it is very pleasant to listen to, with their rendition of Stille Nacht being a new Christmas classic.

Now, some can argue as to which album of Mannheim Steamroller is better. As for me, this one is it. Indeed, it has now gotten to the point where I cannot imagine Christmas without this album. So, if you are looking for some excellent Christmas music, then you really should consider ... Read More:

Troy Donockley plays sessions for many artists although if it was anywhere I guess he calls the band Iona home. The Pursuit Of Illusion is his second solo album and probably one of the best Progressive Rock/Celtic rock albums to be released over the last twelve months.

The title track is absolutely amazing and concerns the story of an illusionist of the early twentieth century Chung Ling Soo. The man was actually an American who performed as a Chinese man and performed the illusion of catching a bullet. Unfortunately one night in London the trick went wrong and he was actually shot and killed on stage in front of an audience. I love this album because its got the song "No Matter What" and "I'm Back" which are two of my fav YuGiOh songs.
My hat off to Mike Pasternack who sang " No Matter What" it really gets you deep!
The album as a whole is good but it would be a whole lot better if it kicked of few of the songs off e.g "We'll Be There" I'm sorry if i affend people who like that song but its just abit too soppy for my liking!
It was definatly worth what i payed for it.
