Iv'e owned the CD Vangelis "Themes" for some while now, and i rate it very highly. What a disappointment this CD, the best of vangelis was. Nothing of the quality and originality of Vangelis of the 80's and 90's (listen to "Themes" and compare). All i heard was re-hashing of old material from this period, and third rate at that. I wondered why it sold so cheap!? now i know.. And being a musician and composer, i do know what i'm talking about.

Vangelis has produced some amazing music in an impressive spectrum of styles: from the stentorian prog/synth/rock of "Heaven & Hell" (Imagine Carl Sagan without it) and "Spiral", through his sublime film/TV work ("Opera Sauvage" and "Bladerunner" stand out), through the stunningly colourful and vivid "Soil Festivities" and on into the classical magnificence of "El Greco" and "Mythodea", or the thinking man's (I flatter myself) pop of Jon and Vangelis. I even have a place in my heart for "See You Later".
